He's in position because of his age, draft position and immediate production to begin to see the big bucks a lot sooner and still be prime for 2 more big deals... And if like a lot of these guys he wants to do things for his family, getting the bigger if not biggest bucks earlier has lots of appeal. He's a tough kid but his agent likely knows he's one or two more of those acrobatic TD's away from potentially never seeing the really big bucks...

his being in his prime for 2 deals is meaningless when it comes to the next deal....his current contract is meaningless when it comes to his new contract.
he's already achieving it......so change 'will be' to 'continues to be'......he local for the steelers, so I'm sure they'll be sniffing around him when it comes time. he'll get his money......and the pain inflicted on the offense will be much greater if he pulls a mankins....so there is obviously incentive for the pats to not wait until the end of the deal to extend him
I'm not worried....TE's of his caliber rarely change teams....that said, he will be coming up for a new deal at the same time as jimmy graham, so there will be precedence......
