Don't let the door hit you and your malpracticing editors on the way out to the unemployment line.

Chicopee isn't far enough away, I'd prefer they moved to Lithuania.

In the newspaper business, Chicopee is a one way ticket on the Fire Sale Expressway.

Future resume of Herald employee:

"was employed from 1996-2008 by defunct newspaper that had too few actual assets to merit the legal costs of an easy-to-win libel suit."

I think you’d have to factor in that one of the remaining strengths of the Herald is its sports pages
So pissing off an entire region of sports fans may not have been such a great idea. Go figure.

I know what we'd like to think, but what percentage of this move do you guys think is actually Tomase-related?

Considering the price of gas - 99 cent gas is never going to return - I don't understand the business rationale of moving that far away. Sure, there are the economies of scale by utilizing an existing printing plant, but there are no closer options than Chicopee? The Herald has had a history of not making ends meet, but I don't see how moving the printing two hours away is the answer to solving whatever current financial problems the paper currently has. How about leasing the printing from multiple locations of local suburban afternoon and weekly papers instead?

Not that a smile wouldn't come across my face if/when the Herald folded . . .

As much as I hate Tomase I can't see how we will be betteroff with one newspaper the Globe. I think we need to hope the Herald survives this move

I know it's the Herald but did they ever consider logistics of delivering the paper in a New England winter with ice and that white stuff that has a habit of falling from December to March????? What's the over under on how many times it doesn't get delivered b/c of winter. when they print 90 miles away...?
