Default I don't think people know this Goodell will punish teams

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8...or-player-acts

After June 1st all teams can be punished for player acts. Yes, the Bills might lose a 3rd because of Lynch.

(If it was the Patriots it'd be a first.)

I think thats pretty stupid. Are teams suppose to keep a watch on their players 24/7? The kid that works down at the buger place, goes on vacation, durring that vacation, gets drunk, drives, and gets arrested...should the burger place get punished?

Goodell has to be fired. It's a football league, not junior high.

This goodie goodie crusade is distracting and will just lead to massive coverups and constant litigation.

Goodell must go.

I'm pretty sure I'll be in the minority on this one, but I think this is a good idea.

That said, Goodell will probably handle any of these situations poorly.

What's most interesting to me is that Goodell is setting himself and the NFL to show whether they place a higher value on human life or an obscure NFL rule that most fans had never heard of prior to this year...

i.e. Will Goodell punish a player (and organization) more harshly for attempted murder than he does for a team that breaks a rule?

Given the way Goodell mishandled Spygate I expect he'll botch this one up pretty well.

Its good that he's not letting everyone run wild; but he's taken it to the other extreme

Does Goodell have some conversion chart devised for these penalties?

"Let's see...Player was involved in a fight at a bar...No charges filed...Teammate cited for unpaid child support two weeks ago...4th round pick and $75K fine."

If the goal is to make the players and team's take off field behavior more seriously, then that's not a bad thing. I just think with all the possibilities out there, I don't know if the league can fairly judge these situations.

It makes sense to punish the player so sure...why not dick it up and punish the team.

Good... unless it only applies to the Pats

It would actually be entertaining to watch the whole NFL draft put in a blender for a year or two, so we could say to all those other guys "it's not an asterisk thing, it's a GOodell thing. Get it?"
