Default Bills will be paid $78 million for eight-game Toronto series

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3374222

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills will receive $78 million -- more than double their calculated 2006 operating income -- to play eight games in Toronto over the next five years.

More in the article.

That's bookoo bucks for a team that always complains that they are a have-not. Let Wilson whine about having to pay into revenue sharing.

I cannot see how they don't move their permanently eventually.

There's only two conclusions for Patriots fans on rookies. They are either a bust or being fitted for their bust in Canton.

Anyone not think that the Bills will be the Toronto Bills in 2013? I give the over under of the anouncement of a permanent move and a new stadium to be built at two years. That will give them enough time to have their first game after the move in the new building.

It just makes too much sense. Toronto is close enough to Buffalo to keep most of the fan base. Toronto is a major metropolis. Buffalo is a small, economically depressed city. The league wants to go international with Canada and Mexico the most obvious countries to first expand to. The Bills can stay in the East and not change the opponent's travel time to get to play them.

So does a season ticket holder automatically get similar seats in toronto or are will they now have Canadian season ticket holders and American season ticket holders?
Quote:
The Bills' average ticket price for this season is about $51 at Ralph Wilson Stadium, which has a 72,000 seating capacity.

Ticket prices for the games in Toronto have not yet been released, but are expected to average more than $100 at a facility with a 54,000 seating capacity for football.
So with the 30% smaller stadium they charge 100% more per ticket. But if they don't honor their season ticket holders - why would you want to be loyal to the team. If you do honor them then 50% of that bump in price; i'm not sure you actually net.

I wonder if any of those games will be Patriots games. we would be a big draw if we sustain our domination of the AFCE for the next 5 years. that could make a small difference in game prep; playing in a stadium you have never been in before.

Lets hope the canadians remember to only mark the field for a 100 yards.

Well they certainly won't be called the Toronto BILLS. And actually I don't think they will move to Toronto. Canada wants to keep it's *****ty CFL as the main football attraction in town.

Sorry I can't help myself but %100 more per ticket is the exact same price. %100 of a 70 dollar ticket is 70 dollars.

The CFL is different but that doesn't mean it is "*****ty". The game can be quite good.

100% more means an additional 100%, so 2x the value.

... and you know that Wilson will try as hard as he can to NOT put any of that $78 mill back into the team

I would suspect not. Right now the Patriots @ Bills is a game that sells out quickly, Fins @ Bills doesn't sell as well. I suspect being Toronto will sell out no matter who the other team is, might as well keep the better games in Buffalo.

"100% of" is the same price. But he said "100% more," which would be double the original price.
