Default Scapegoats..Edelman...OchoCinco..who else?

I am reading all of the threads and its amazing how all the "peripheral" players are somehow responsible for yesterday's loss. I watched the game and it seems like Goundhog Day with this team.

The oppponent makes adjustments and our coaches can't seem to understand that the game has an ebb and a flow.

Before we start cutting players, how about we fire some of the coaches? lets start with Bill O'Brien. Then how about the DB coach? McCourty is going backwards this year.

How the DL coach? Its called a pass rush.

How about we hold the coaching staff responsible?

Coaches coach, players play.. before we start firing Pepper Johnson, Bill O'Brien and the rest of them let this play out for a while.

Firing position coaches and coordinators is usually not done third game in..

There is enough blame to go around, all the pats shyt the bed in all phases of the game...

Wes Welker and Gronk were amazing, they didn't **** the bed because Ocho can't catch on pass all that we ask of a guy who used to catch 5+. Brady not relaxing after the fluke pick and throwing 3 more etc.

I started the Edelman thread. Don't see him as a scapegoat for yesterday's game; I just see him as having no upside in the offense. Wish they would use Slater; at least he adds a deep threat.

Ochocinco will be fine by the end of the season.

Coaching staff called a great game all-around yesterday.

What's with the Edelman talk anyways? He had some good plays in special teams for us. He didn't drop any easy catches. According to Reiss's snap counts, he was only on the field 23 of 75 snaps yet got targeted as often as Branch and made more of an impact.

Or did someone confuse him with Woody and think he was responsible for the interception before halftime? I'm just utterly confused.

And yes, let's fire the OC whose team has scored 30+ points in 11 straight games. That makes perfect sense.

And yes, McCourty is struggling. But most of the times I saw yesterday, he had absolutely no safety help whatsoever. Him and Bodden were left on an island for large portions of the game, including that double move at the end where Bodden gave up a huge reception. There was no safety in the picture, or on most of the completions given up by McCourty. He hasn't played his best, but I think more of it has to do with the inexperience at safety than an actual regression.

+1. Lots of time left this year to right the ship. The offense had a bad half. Wayyy too early to conclude its a trend. The swiss cheese defense is becoming a trend though. The team as a whole put up a stinker. Lets hope thats all it was.

really, I didn't see a single run play called when the first half was winding down and we were in a scoring position. and it didnt happen until after brady threw 3 more picks

i bet they didn't knew this innovative concept of kill the clock and run the ball when you are ahead of 21 points in the game , especially when your D cannot stop a junior high offense...

fumbrunner and chicowalker like this.

This offseason, it's almost like Belichick is saying, "I'm never going to let that happen again."

Edleman still has a place here as a returner and a backup WR. Coaching staff didn't call a great game all around yesterday. In fact their aversion to the run proved costly again, this time the cost was exacerbated by a string of bad bounces. Their personnel use was bizarre to say the least. Edleman in as a RB?? Remind me again why we drafted two RB's this season... Do the coaches have so little faith in either that they were only active due to injuries?? You cannot run 2 TE sets with a 33 year old WR who isn't up to speed and is developing a case of the yips filling in for your velcro handed move TE...

This team has to be able to run the ball effectively situationally and the pass defense has to be able to bend without bending over...and breaking. I don't care how many rotational DLinemen or CB's you accumulate, might as well go back to the 3-4 if the 4-3 can't generate any pressure absent a blitz and your corners can't play man with no safety net. 8 penalties including 2 by the OL that stalled drives and two that led to gimme scores (including one that negated a game ending gift INT) isn't going to magically cut it this year when the defense can't get off the field again at the end of halves or in the second half...even when you don't manage to turn the ball over 4 times.

Branch was drawing double coverage... Edleman was getting stuffed coming out of the backfield...expanding on his versatility I guess... Unfortunately there was a safety in the picture when Fitz threw that mindnumbing duck INT that would have killed Buffalo's comeback and sealed the game... He played like a STer...oblivious to the fact that the WR he was covering was bound to hit the breaks rather than run out of the back of the EZ...
