Charting Out the Patriots Passing Game vs. Miami
By: Ian Logue

After spending the evening logging the plays from last night, I figured I'd share some interesting numbers in the passing game for anyone who is obviously interested

Here's a similar breakdown to the ones I did with a couple of the runningbacks, only this time it's with the passing game. Let me know what you think.

This is great stuff, thanks Ian! This oughta be bumped to the top.

In particular, 11 of 13 on 2nd down is an interesting and remarkable number. I would guess this can be attributed to the Patriots putting themselves in good situations after first down.

I think that second down would be the most common 'take what the defense gives you and make a safe pass' down. Third down would be 'avoid INT, throw it past the sticks' which, I imagine, would lead to more incompletions.
