Lightbulb Patriots Number Two in the Latest ESPN NFL Power Rankings

Patriots Number Two in the Latest ESPN NFL Power Rankings
By: Ian Logue

So far all the latest acquisitions haven't done enough to convince the "experts" that the Patriots should be ranked #1, at least not according to the latest NFL power rankings....

Funny seeing the Eagles at #3. They will certainly be a force this year, but they remind me a lot of the 2001 Rams. Lots of great individual players, who may put up the best numbers. But they arn't a great TEAM yet. We have seen it time and time again, superstars certainly help, but you can rarely buy yourself a chamionship.

I think it's pretty standard practice to give the defending champs the number one spot in the pre-season rankings. I'll take number two. For now.

I havent seen very much of this over the last few seasons. Pats have very much returned to being media darlings for MOST talking heads and self proclaimed experts.

The 2001 Rams were a GREAT team. One of the best ever actually.

Im not feeling this comparison at all.

I know they do this every year but having power rankings during training camp is something I always find amusing.

Don't really care much about power rankings. Good for entertainment purposes, but not relevant to much.

Your probably right. But I think the 2001 pats were a better team. A better group as a whole, where the Rams where a more talented collection of individual players. Saying they wern't a good team was inaccurate.

I do have doubts about all the star players in Philly this year blending together and creating that same level of chemistry and talent. It's not always easy to do in year one. Especially this year.
