I know, it's a crazy thought, but it just may be true. I am so sick of all the friggin armchair QB's. There are some posters on here that have such great football knowledge and I learn so much. But these freakin negative nellies always popping around--drives me nuts.

Something good happened--ooh ooh let me criticize it and find the bad in it!!!! To not know what Tedy brings to this team beyond his play on the field is unfathomable.

Once again I apologize. I have a very good friend who spells his name with two D's. It's habit. By no means is my spelling of TB's name reflective of my Pats knowledge. I follow this team religiously.

I agree that BB knows a lot more about talent than you and I. However, I do believe he has been a little to loyal at times to certain players. There is a decent list of "BB Guys" that hung around a little too long. Anthony Pleasant, Troy Brown last year, Otis Smith, Rick Lyle, Roman Phifer, Victor Green. Obviously some of these include their NYJ tenure, but it does show at times BB is hesitant to cut the proverbial cord from his personal favorites.

BTW - Take a look at the NFL stats for tackles. There are a lot of avg to below avg players that had much higher tackle totals than TB. Tackles are just not a very good measure of a players value.
BTW...you are the one claiming he can't do ANYTHING...and then bring u[ "value" "effectiveness".. and "impact plays"...Do you jusge a player's effectiveness by ESPN highlights?? Geez...

That is why NE had the 4th overall 'D' in the NFL last year.

Give TB some talent to work with and he will teach and lead - just ask Jr or Adalius. I think Woods & maybe even Alexender will play larger roles this year, they seem to be making progress, this scheme takes time. The other guys you mentioned are JAGS all the way.

My only problem with our defense was the inability to make the crucial stop at the most important time - 3rd and 4th down, during the final drive of the final game.

Your scenario is to get rid of the guy that held the 'D' together and replace him with fast guys that are clueless....
TB is not what held the D together last year. The D-Line is. TB is the guy who was replaced by E Alexander to start the AFC Championship against the Colts a year ago. That was over a season ago. If he was considered a liability in that game, why not now? At what point does he need to be replaced by a younger, more talented player?

No I don't. But I do watch every play of every game a number of times. Look at KC Joyner's stats for the LB position. He takes into account a lot more data than just "tackles". Just look at our defensive YPC avg after Rosey went down. Teams started averaging nearly 5 yards/carry against us. I don't think that was as much a reflection of Rosey being out as it was TB being on the field more often.

You're joking right? The same game that the whole team had fevers and the flu? That game? Ugh.

Right now, and that holds true for every single player on the team......younger more talented players is the way to improve.

Show me those guys and I am all for it.......until you can be happy we have what we have. TB was not the reason we failed down the stretch in
Indy & Az, he was one of the reasons we got that far.

Teddy actually made a couple great plays down the stretch. I forget what game, but I remember him jumping full out and knocking down a ball that would have been a touchdown.

Having spent the last several hours (ok, fleeting seconds) pondering your posts, I realize something that you may have missed: Belioli have decided that having Bruschi back at the agreed upon salary was more important to the team than keeping Colvin at his salary. I wonder if that means anything (other than Belioli have lost their minds)...

As far as I can remember he was (1)the leading tackler on an undefeated super bowl team. (2)He started every game. (3)He has played in 5 Super Bowls in 12 years! If you dont think those 3 things count you dont know anything!
He made himself a valuable member of the LBs by effort. That hasnt changed. He is and always has been small and fast for the position, he isnt a THUMPER. He sets the defense, and even if he is "catching" too much for some people's liking he is still our best bet. He is a 3 down LB, dont you remember his coverage that knocked down a TD at the goal line this year? I know he didnt get the turnovers he usually does, Junior got 3 INTs, thats how it goes.
Our run defense problems started with Seymour being hurt and Rodney out a few games. And honestly I think the safeties slacked off this year too. But its his experience and grace under pressure that defines character that no rookie can ever replace. He still plays on STs!! I am not so sure that if he didnt have his stroke that we dont win 5 straight Super Bowls! He has a chance to tie the record by being in his 6th Super Bowl in 09.....and took a hometown discount prior to free agency to do it! If ever there were a guy that it was ok to LOSE a game for this is the guy! He should be creeping into HOF territory too....You wont see #54 on another Patriot ever!
