Default Do you feel the Patriots were too confident/arrogant this time?

I'm just curious what Pats fans think.

Do you feel the team was overconfident or even a bit arrogant going into the game? If so, what would you cite as a specific example?

Or do you feel they weren't, and their mindset going into the game was just fine?

Inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks for your time.

I think they couldn't block anybody. I also think that they should have sacked Eli on the last drive and I think Tyree made an all-time catch. That is why they lost.

Honestly, maybe. I never thought I'd say it, but we heard too much about history, even from Tom. I hate to say it, but for one game, they might've gotten ahead of themselves.

Not as co(ky as some fans in here

The lines on both sides sucked - The offensive line was bullied and used as a turnstile to get to Brady and the Defensive line played like 300 Lb. pansies and were outmuscled most of the game.

What was wrong with the defensive line? They are there to stop the run. The Giants averaged 3.5 yards per carry. The pass rush was not great all game but it was on the last drive until "the play," and that is primarly the LB responsibility anyway.

In a word....YES!
Even Tom Brady laughed at the thought, the mere thought of his offense only scoring 17 points. They had to fight and claw for 14 points!

Yes, I think the hype caught up with them. I really do. I think it is normal by the way. These men, yes even Tom Brady, are only human and I think they were too over confident. They all looked thrilled to be playing the 'weak' NFC Giants, like they knew that something was up - they all had that smirk going on last week. Meanwhile the Giants had a edge to them. Also confident, but not nearly as the Pats. I thought that all week long by the way, this is just not an after the fact thing.

Brady, after the first 3 and out looked worried to me. When does Brady ever look worried? It was almost like he knew the line could not hold these guys and he would have to really find or buy his own time, which he couldn't.

Yes, I believe there was not enough respect given to the other team...

That can be seen in the game planning, the lack of adjusting, and the attitude from our defensive line when the game was at hand.

Also: I hated the trademark crap, and brady's comments about how important being perfect is...

"17 points?" Plax said we were only going to score 17 points? Is he playing defense?

Yeah, Brady shoulda checked himself on that one.

So out of character for him to say something like that. It still shocks me actually. The NYC stations and National stations cannot stop playing/showing Brady's comments. Honestly, I can't blame them. It was a very out of character arrogant response from Tom.

Overconfident?? Yes!!
They got punched in the nose during the game and didn't really ever punch back. It was like they didn't expect it and didn't know what to do. Very UNPatriot like game.
Arrogant?? No!
This is not an arrogant bunch. Yes they'll trash talk with the best of them when on the field but they don't disrespect anyone before the game and everyone gave props to the Giants and made no excuses after the game.
I guess we found something out on Sunday.
Our Patriots are human beings after all!!
Sunday will hurt for a long time but we still love our boys!! They really are a group of great guys.
