Agreed, this was not about the Pats playing poorly, or Brady's ankle, (although maybe about poor play calling), but it is most CERTAINLY about the Giants playing well and winning the game. Other than Strahan, that is a very young defensive line, which is scary.
Congrats to the Giants and their fans, we're jealous of how they feel right now, because we felt it 6 years ago.

When I watched the Giants play last night, I saw the 2001 New England Patriots....... and, I'm embarrassed to admit this: I was envious.
The earned that win from us, and I can't hate them for that.
I am grateful for the joy that the Patriots brought me this year, but right now, I wish we had lost to the Ravens. The whole 19-0 thing, in hindsight, was too large of a cross to bare, not just for this team, but for any team. It will never happen again.

Absolutely!!
The Giants played the better game yesterday and deserved to win.
Congratulations Giant fans.
We know how sweet it feels for you today because it's what we experienced in 2001.

I happen to agree, although I'm not sure whether it's the right thing to do. Different fans root in different ways.
I'm a sports fan. I love spectator sports. But I also recognize that it is a very tough gig. Despite recent history, your teams lose way more often than they win, and losing tends to feel worse than winning feels good.
So, for me, I can see though the bitter disappointment and sadness to recognize what an amazing accomplishment and victory that was for the Giants. That simply has to go down as one of the greatest moments in the history of those fans' sports-watching lives, and they earned it and should enjoy it. Most of all, they deserve it.
I made it a point of congratulating all of the Giants fans in my row and on my way out of the stadium. I could see in their faces the reason we root so hard for our teams in the first place -- for the hope of that one moment. Good for them. I know that for many fans, it's largely about the gloating and trash talk and message board wars. And I don't have a problem with that either -- to each his own.
But today belongs to the Giants, and, more importantly, their fans. So, cheers. Hopefully we'll get ya' next year. Just a few weeks now until pitchers and catchers.
Thanks especially to several of the Giants fans who were around on the boards this last week and in general brought some very good discussion, and more importantly were courteous.
There were some trolls sure, but when compared to the people we got around here for the Jags and Chargers, it was a revelation. Even today, none of the trolls who've come by to rub our faces in it have been Giants fans, and I appreciate that.
So specifically to you Giants fans: Enjoy it. Despite our recent run of success, most of us still know these don't come around that often, so enjoy the heck out of it. Your team was awesome yesterday.

I agree. Lets vow not to be the Rams fans. No posts calling the Giants season a fluke, or with weather reports claiming hell had a blizzard last night, like I got back in 2001. No whining about refs. Or making LT style claims that if we played them 9 times we would win 10. Or claiming they must have cheated.
The Giants won because they played better. Period. End of story. Don't be a Rams fan.

Thanks. I think it is the right thing to do though. I've always believed that both players and fans should be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. I think of a lot of young kids who are growing up as Pats/Sox fans during this era of success, and I think it's an important lesson for them to learn. Things aren't always going to go your way, so even if you want to dissect the loss (which we certainly should do), you tip your cap to the opposition and congratulate them.
Ultimately, it's just a game, and the way we conduct ourselves as fans when our team loses is even more important than when they win.

Glad someone started a congrats thread. I've been trying since this morning but this is the first time I"ve been able to get on a thread!
Anyway, congrates to the Giants! They played an awsome game last night. I'm feeling so bad right now, especially for our players who work so hard all year, gave us an unbelieveable season, and couldn't catch that last brass ring!
Signing off now for awhile as I'm just hurting too much!
