That is awful news.

Quite frankly, I don't know how military families go about their lives normally. Watching Bob over the last few years, you'd think a crack or two would show.

Really terrible news indeed.

I'm embarassed to admit that one of my early thoughts on this was that I was bummed that we would likely not get to read Bob Ryan on the Super Bowl. I guess that's a function of how wrapped up I am in this game, the fact that the Globe and Herald have so few solid columnists and how much I enjoyed Ryan's columns after SBs 36, 38 and 39.

And that reaction of course obscures the horrible reality facing the Ryan family. I can't imagine losing a child.
