If Asante Samuel returns one to the House in SB XLII, Will he Surpass Clements Money?
I think he will, teams always overpay players coming off a good performance on a winning Super Bowl team.
And he's always come up Big in Big Games.
There's no way were undefeated without him.
I don't know if he is regarded around the league to be a top corner, But the pats giving him the Franchise Tag, may have worked out perfect for him.

Re: If Asante Samuel returns one to the House in SB XLII, Will he Surpass Clements Mo
he will get a ton of money - look at what the the super bowl in 2005 did for antwaan randle el - the guy made bank with the redskins after THROWING a TD when he's normally a wide receiver - the guy has okay skills, but theres no way he would have earned himself a big contract otherwise.
Asante, on the other hand, has legitmate skills - if he makes a huge play like a pick-six, especially if its for like 50-60 yards or somethin, is gonna have so much money thrown at him it will be ridiculous.
and then he probably won't perform nearly as well on a defense that isnt as talented as ours.

Popular misconception that ignores the deals given to Brady, Seymour, Adalius Thomas, Colvin, and Koppen.
Please note that the Patriots also made Paxton the highest paid long-snapper in the history of the NFL.

I don't deny that the pats will throw a lot of money at whoever they view to be essential to their team, I just don't think Asante is viewed the same way Seymour or Brady is - he's a very nice player who is basically a luxury right now. we don't NEED asante to make our defense happen, whereas seymour is a cornerstone of that D.

He wouldn't even have to take one to the house. If he gets one pick he'll push for that kind of money. He sure milked that 10 INTs and 2 pick sixes in the playoffs for decent money this year. He made one pick against the colts last year, and then he was torched for the rest of the game. I really want nothing to do with the guy unless he takes a $2 million cap space cut. We have to put one guy out there who can cover because Samuel just cherry picks.
The pats won't cough up money for anything but pivotal players. If they think they can replace you, they will let you leave. They gave Warren, Seymour, Light, and Brady money because you don't just go out and get players of that quality that have no baggage. Samuel certainly falls under the category of replaceable, especially in the pats' eyes.
Brady didn't even get that much money for a QB. Delhomme makes more than he does.
