Default Maroney vs. Addai: Upon Further Review...

Let me start with a disclaimer. I'm definitely prone to excessive homerism that generally manifests itself in severely impaired judgement with regard to all things Patriots. This is especially so with regard to comparisons involving anything Pats-Colts. IOW, I am most likely incapable of making the observations I am about to make. Therefore, I welcome the enlightended opinion of the more fair and balanced Pats "fans" out there.

Here goes... I couldn't help but notice the contrast in these two running backs this weekend. There seemed to be an electric quality to Maroney's carries that I didn't see when I watched Addai today. Addai seemed to be plodding and looked like he may have tired/heavy legs at this point of the season. The contrast was every bit as striking as earlier in the year when it really did appear that Addai was the better back. Now it looks like Maroney is the much more dynamic runner and Addai looks much more like an average back. Am I way off on this observation or did anyone else notice this too?

Maroney was great last year before he got hurt, and he was simply not needed for most games this season. But he has been stepping up in the best possible way when he needs to. Addai has been great as well, even if he was not today.

If anything the fact that these guys went later in the first round shows how much of an absolute bust Reggie Bush is as an NFL player. Who knew that the Texans actually took the right player?

I guess what I'm getting at is how all the talking heads had the whole country convinced that if the Colts showed up here for the AFCCG they would actually have the advantage because of their superior running game. I heard things like, "the Colts are built to win in January in Foxboro." Obviously we'll never know now as they won't be coming (too bad ). But based on what I saw this weekend I can't help but think we have the superior running game at this point and it's not even close. Am I blind, crazy, or both?

I guess we'll see how Maroney does vs. LT next weekend.

You're not crazy, it's just hard to gauge Maroney when the passing game has been so prolific. As of now, he's delivered when they needed him to. So far, so good.

I thought about this today as well. I wonder how many people would have believed Maroney would double Addai's output this weekend (and add a TD)?

Maroney and Marion the Barbarian ran like demons. I hope Laurence gets a chance to out-do LDT next week.

Addai has been a zero since week 9. The original poster is correct. Maroney is better than Addai, and will have a much better individual career. Still, Addai has a SB ring, something LoMo does not have, yet.

That's because people oversimplify things to back up scenarios they want to happen. They looked at the Colts demonstrated ability to run the ball and play good defense and jumped to that conclusion.

The Colts are not 'built to win in January in Foxboro' they are a team who features fantastic speed on defense and relies on Addai's cut back ability to get production from running the ball. Tell me what about snowy, slushy weather in Foxboro would help a team who relies on speed on defense and a cutback running back?

Granted the Patriots offense as it stands now is hardly built to win in January in Foxboro but our defense sure as hell is.
