Default Mayo the student...Ray Lewis the teacher

Jerod plans on having some in depth discussion while 'on vacation' in Hawaii on how to improve his play and learn the position even better from the best in the business.

Ray may be an off the field murderer in some peoples eyes, but no one can argue that Lewis has been the best ILB in the NFL for the past decade and if Mayo can be even 30% of what Ray Lewis has brought to the table in his decade of dominance then we should see an even better Mayo in 2011 and beyond.

Not to forget of how much of a leader on defense Ray has been in Baltimore and something that is still lacking in the New England defense.

We all know Mayo is a tackling machine

If he learns from Ray on how to be the type of locker room presence, the type of fierce competitor who plays like every game is their last and a man with a burst throught the middle of the LOS and gets to the QB often and makes them feel scared in the pocket...we will have a HOFer in NE

One thing that I really wonder about is why Ray would like to teach his successful methods with a guy that is on another team..I would think Ray would discuss ways to being a top star with his own clubs young LBs but it seems in his last years he wants to set an example for the stars of the future to listen and learn.

I really think there is more of a fraternity feel to the players than we think in a lot of cases. The news tends to focus on the juicy stories, which is players hating each other, trash talk, etc, but these guys are all part of the same union. And with players switching teams all the time, I think it would be hard to only like the guys on your own team. When you like a guy, you help him out, regardless of whether you're competing or not.

Look at Brady and Manning. From all reports they have a great off field relationship, and wish each other well. It would be naive to think they don't occasionally swap advice, and they're two of the biggest rivals in recent NFL history.

While he's at it maybe he'll learn to kill people and get away with it.

Damn it, I had post #6 in the poll for when a "kill" post made its first appearance.

If Ray teaches Mayo the "ants in the pants dance" i am going to be very disapointed.

I honestly think that Mayo can surpass someone like Bruschi as a player.

The difference between Mayo and Lewis is that Lewis makes big plays. Mayo's big plays are few and far between, although he consistently plays at a very high level.

Not sure if you can teach big play instinct.

This looks like some sort of mating ritual.
Leaders like Lewis are born. Leaders like Jerod lead by example.
I really and truely hope JM does not take on this schtick.
