BB has had Hannah, Russ Francis, Ron Burton, Gino obviously, Mike Haynes and others swing by practice and visit the team.

Sorry Grogs is getting the cold shoulder.

Read it and there isn't much to it. Not even really bashing. It's just Grogan saying, "I wanted to get some of the players to do some charity stuff with me. They gave me the cold shoulder. They're protective of their guys. That's just how it is."

What a non-story. Granted they are going to make this about how evil Belichick is.

BTW, this line get me:

Quote:
Belichick has only one former player on staff in defensive backs coach Corwin Brown.
Really?!? What about Pepper Johnson? He was a former player for Belichick. Andre Tippett is on his front office staff. Also, he has given former players like Otis Smith tryouts during the preseason as coaches to either make their way on the team or find a job elsewhere through the experience. Why would Belichick have former players that he has no experience with like Grogan or other former Patriots before he came to New England be on his coaching staff? Also, odds are good that when Faulk retires, he will join the coaching staff in some capacity.

It's pretty well known that Grogan was a critic early on, when many were touting him as a resource Bill should be tapping... Most of these guys scoffed at the system so were worse than useless to Bill from that perspective. They're dinosaurs from a present day football perspective when so much of success is cerebral and system and scheme driven. Those who have come to embrace or at least appreciate the philosophical difference seem to do OK here. Grogan not so much. Be honest, what the hell is he going to tell Tom Brady that would benefit anyone?

Wasn't the quote just that BB wasn't letting his guys do charity gigs w/Grogan, out of protectiveness? Or did it go deeper into this "who got a job w/the latter-day Pats" territory?

Seriously, how much insight can Grogan or any former QB give Tom Brady. I love Grogan, but Grogan could have used a mentor like Tom Brady when he was playing not Brady needing Grogan.

I am not that mad about Grogan. I am sure his quotes were probably taken out of context. For all we know, Grogan could have been praising Belichick for shielding his players from the outside world and keeping them focused.
