Another 5% er here. I was overseas in Spain in the Air Force at the time. We listened in awe and joy on Armed Forces radio (no TV available) at the upstart Jets from the uber underdog AFL beating the evil empire's NFL Colts. The hatred and much despised Jets that we know now didn't exist back then.

Derek Sanderson and Hawk Harrelson, went there one night during the heyday of the Bruins.. sat at a table, and the guy in the next table asked about the Bruins.. later found out he was the owner of the Blackhawks (Wirtz??)... anyways he bought our table a round of drinks. After we finished he looked at me as it was my turn, his party was of 10 folks, and mine was a party of 4.. no way could I handle it, as was still in college and working part time.. so we left..

Needless to say it was an experience.

Nice.

At least you tried real hard. Well, there is no sense in complaining when you've got a job to do. It's now or never!

Beat the Jets!

(thanks for the bump RobertWeathers!)

Forgive me father, for I have sinned. As a day 0 AFL and Patriots fan, I rooted for the upstart AFL NY Jets to beat the big bad NFL bullies. Loved the game. The SB was on my birthday. I watched it on my Dad's color TV. Really. They had them back then. They did.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

lol at Frezo and the town full of toadstools.

And don't be hating on Joe Namath, he was actually about the coolest thing going then. Lots of Yankee hating and we thought we were rivals with Miami (they didn't realize it) hence the snowplow, but there was never a real rivalry with the Jets, we were never good at the same time.

Namath actually had a nightclub on Comm Ave. called Bachelors III we used to frequent. Imagine a Nightclub in Boston owned and named after a NY QB and two other guys (who knows ?).

Of course, speaking of toadstools, Namath's victory brought us the brief, but hilarious reign of Clive Rush, Namath's offensive coordinator. Easily the most ridiculous low point of Patriots football.
Led Zep's first album had the Hindenburg on the cover, didn't it ? I was at that concert too. I remember the local biker gang, the Devil's Disciples, getting all rowdy and almost stopping the concert. I saw Jimi Hendrix and the Stones at the Gahden too. Good times were had by all.

I used to hang out at a dive called the Huddle, on Beacon St., off Kenmore square. They had Country Joe and the Fish on the jukebox...

Give me an F...give me a #...give me a #...give me a K...

Joe Willy doesn't care if the team is ST...RUGG...IL...ING. I hope he's there tonight.
