Default No Complacency on BB's team

BostonHerald.com - Blogs: Rap Sheet Blog Archive Patriots coach Bill Belichick crushes his players in the film room “like (they) were 2-14.”

Quote:
Today, the Patriots went into the film room and received a nice little treat from their coach. With the focus on self-scouting, perhaps coach Bill Belichick just wanted the team to be humbled. Or, maybe he spent the last few days driving himself nuts with film study, frustrated at what wasn’t going well.

So, he spent this morning’s film session not-to-nicely pointing out mistakes to the team. Like, over and over. I’m told, no one was spared.

“Everyone got chewed out,” one player told me.
Did anyone expect anything different?

I imagine SB '07 has stuck in his craw more painfully than we'll ever know. Virtually everyone assumed the Patriots would win that one.
Well, there'll be no assuming of anything this time around, not even a little teeny bit.
Probably by the time he got finished with them they weren't even sure they'd made the playoffs.

If it was any more than the other safeties, it's only because he has played the most snaps. Yes, he made a bad play against the Packers. Outside of that, he is by far the best safety we have against the pass, and he's pretty good against the run too. Not sure where the hate comes from.

Well in that case we should cut him before the playoffs start?

I think the hate for Meriweather is very very undeserved. He may not actually deserve the Pro Bowl but he is a hell of a lot better than people on here would give him credit for.

I respectfully disagree. Eugene Wilson played better free safety in the first two seasons with the New England Patriots than Brandon Meriweather ever has.

Again you chose a bad example which isnt fully accurate anyway. But Eugene Wilson played some pretty good football for us for a few years.

150 tackles and 8 picks the last two years for Meriweather
128 tackles and 8 picks in Wilson two best years with us (his first two)

Now clearly Meriweather has had his bad moments this year his unneccessary roughness vs the ravens and the play where he tackled his teamate come to mind but clearly he has had a couple of good years this year and last and is more than a capable safety in our system.

meriweather is holding the rest of this defense back a notch, or so it seems to my very untrained eye, therefore i could be woefully wrong

but i just dont see him being very good, and definetely not pro bowl worthy, thought thats another matter since the pro bowl such crap selection wise
