As both a friend of Tom's and a member of the UM football family, it's one of the wrongful media claims that annoys me to no end.
Interesting. Thanks for the info. It evens boggles my mind so much more after
reading that, that the "so-called professionals" could have relegated TB to almost
an afterthought in the draft. Do you have any info around draft day when
TB was drafted and surprise at the position he was drafted at? I wasn't
aware of TB's career at MU. To me any pick after the 3rd round of the draft
is a shot in the dark.

nah, He is a product of the Michigan oline and David Terrell, he will never amount to anything. Why waste a pick on him. But that Terrell guy, he is a player, the Pats should take him with their 1st pick. But knowing the Pats, they will do something stupid and take a player like Richard Seymore, who is bound to be a bust.

Tom's Dad just told a story that Tom was so pissed on draft day he left the house. He didn't even talk to Bill when he called because he wasn't around. Tom's dad said he was in the shower or they couldn't find him or something. I think he was more pissed because he wanted to play for the 49ers and he believed they were going to draft him.

This guy was considered too skinny by many also and went in the third round. Bill Walsh was pretty smart too.

He didn't take draft day(s) too well. I just figured he'd go in the second or third round. I mean, the dude was GOOD. I remember he didn't answer his phone at all, and when he was drafted had actually gone "for a walk." Naturally I was pleased that he was coming to the Pats, but he did really want to be a Niner. We used to talk pro ball in practice from time to time, he and Henson would go back and forth about the 49ers and Cowboys, and I'd get laughed out of the conversation when the Pats were brought up. Ironic.

I didn't realize you were friends with him, now I really like you (ha!). I wrote a story above about when I met him. He seems like a really nice guy, very genuine.
