But no head coach has done a better job through adverse circumstances than Dungy, whose Colts were 10 minutes against New England and a last-second missed field goal against San Diego from being 14-0 themselves.
Does Stats, Inc. keep record of "almost wins"?

I don't like Dungy and that's because he [was] the head coach of the Colts. Period. End of question. The degree to which I like a player or coach is predicated solely on the color of the laundry they wear on Sunday. When fans admit this and stop bashing players and coaches for any other reason, the world of sports will be infinitely improved.

Or class.

Or blueprints.

This is moronic. Replace "Colts" with "Patriots", "Dungy" with "Belichick" and "Manning" with "Brady" and this article is basically a description of the Patriots from 2001-2006. Except with the obvious difference being that the Pats won three and Belichick didn't blow his team's shot at the Super Bowl one year by resting his starters for four weeks.

If anyone wants to see why Belichick should be called the greatest HEAD coach of all time.....remind them of how good the Rams were in 2001 and how good the Chargers were in 2006 then show them the postseason games against the patriots...The Patriots and Belichick have made legacies by beating teams they have no reason winning against....anyone remember what Dungy's teams mostly did in the playoffs in the late 20th and 21st century?? Even last year Dungy won against the "how did we get in the playoffs" Chiefs, the "what the hell is an offense" Ravens, and the "lets play with 3rd stringers and the flu" Patriots.

Dungy should be ashamed of himself for having to be the coach it is politically correct to call the best coach. If he was any type of man, (though it is my belief that a true man is weighed in the success of his children) he would refuse to be in all those commercials that they deleted Belichick in. Give me a brake.

Dungy is the reason his team isn't at least 13-1. He tired his own D out going after Brady and then called a pointless timeout to complain about a penalty.

If Belichick goes 16-0 and doesn't get Coach of the Year then that award is an F-ing JOKE. I understand that it doesn't always - or even OFTEN - go to the coach whose team had the best record, but 16-0 isn't simply "the best record," at's an ACTUAL RECORD, it is HISTORIC.

If the media want to look like retroactive petty a-holes and completely unprofessional, they can go right ahead and vote for Dungy or Sherman or whomever. Fools.

If one of those guys wins and faces BB in the playoffs or SB, the game will be a joke. A complete joke. The Pats will rally around BB and play their butts off and kill their opponent. So yeah, give it to Dungy and see what happens.

Even though his best friend remains Michael Holley, Michael Smith had some sort of run in/falling out with Bill just before he left the Globe for ESPN. Ever since then I have noticed Michael going out of his way to be, as Felger likes to characterze it, "objective" when it comes to covering the Patriots...

To paraphrase the great ESPN mediot Tom Jackson, "they hate our coach...".

When is the Coach of the Year award awarded? If it is before the playoffs I hope BB doesn't get the award. It's just more motivational fire for the players. That would be a great we don't get any respect card to play for motivation.

Additionally I don't think BB cares about individual awards, only team awards like the ultimate team award, a SB victory.
