I gotta feeling that some bad teams will be looking to steal away O'Brien for a HC position since he has a lot to do with the play calling on this years team and since the offense is playing lights out it makes his value rise like so many coaches from the past who went on.

Would you like to see a new play caller for the offense in 2011? or is O'Brien good enough to promote to OC?

I think BB will name a OC next year,whoever it may be.

I don't think anyone will hire him away as a HC, but I can definitely see them hiring him away as an official OC. But I think we've seen enough this year that he's going to get the title next year, so it should be moot.

Not sure about that.. if anything we will elevate him internally. O'Brien has done a commendable job, listen to Brady's glowing praise of him..

Teams have not had a good history with "stealing our coaches", consider Mangini, Crennel, Weiss and McDaniels..

No matter how good things are in Patriotsland, you gotta come up with a gloom and doom point of view don't ya.

I doubt there will be a Patriots assistant who will be stolen by another team to be a head coach anytime soon. After the McDaniels' failure in Denver followed by failures by Crennel, Weis, and Mangini; I doubt there will be a Patriots assistant or coordinator given a head coaching job any time soon.

In fact, I would be more concerned about losing Nick Casserio. While the coaches from the Belichick tree have not been successful in new places, the front office personnel have had a lot of success (Pioli, Dimitroff).

As I said in another thread, the perceived "failures" amongst other Belichick disciples will ensure that another coordinator from our staff doesn't get hired for at least some time.

I wouldn't go that far. Pioli and Dimitroff have been doing pretty well, and Weis/Crennel look a little better... even Mangini may have gotten a little of his luster back, at least as far as coaching goes. McDaniels obviously looks terrible, but I think owners will be just as willing to raid Bill's staff as they have been in the past.

The main difference is that they will most likely be wary of giving full control of an organization to one guy.

The upcoming possibility of a lockout will probably keep people from going outside the building more than any of the perceived 'failures' of former NE coaches.

To answer the question, although he's not exactly a coach, I would suggest Caserio as a candidate before BOB.

As Kontra stated, with all the issues with recent accessions from Belichick's staff I would be surprised if the Pats' staff gets pillaged anytime soon. If anything, Belichick appears to be single-handedly doing more now and thereby proving he may be the only reason for the Pats success in terms of coaching.
Until one of his coaches departs and makes a name for himself as a head coach, there is no reason to think otherwise.

I should elaborate. Of course, I don't McDaniels, and Mangini have failed. I don't like McDaniels anymore because of his big mouth, and I laughed at him getting fired, but Denver ultimately still should have given him more time to put the system in place. I do think, however, that Remeo had more than enough time in Cleveland. Furthermore, Weis is coming off of a fresh canning at Notre Dame. With the two of them, I think people hold the view that they're coordinators moreso than coaches. I also think that Mangini getting fired would be premature as well. They need to have more patience with him. However, with all of these coaches, there is a common perception that they won't be able to recreate any of what Belichick did, for some reason. Even though most of them weren't given the proper opportunity to do so.

I wouldn't necessarily count Pioli, Dimitroff, and Caserio in with all of these guys. They're front office people and not coaches.

My question is why BOB hasn't been give the OC title for the patriots.

I don't expect him to be a HC anytime soon. He's nowhere near ready; but then, neither was Josh.
