Default Why do I feel uneasy?

This is the best of times for homers like me. I'm seeing things from my team that I would not dare to imagine 20 years ago. They can write NFL history by going undefeated all the way to winning their 4th Super Bowl. That's 3 more than I asked god for prior to the 2001 season.

So why do I feel so uneasy about the rest of the year. Part of me want the team to run the table and part of me would like to see the team lose (OMG I said it) one of the two remaining games.

I guess I feel that the law of averages are working againts us and by losing one of two remaining regular season games they have a better chance to go three games to glory in the playoffs.

Does anyone else feel this way or am I just being paranoid?

I don't buy into the whole "lose one to get the monkey off your back" thing.

Players are expected to play a full 16 game season to the best of their ability. To expect anything less is silly. Think of the money they make.

We are fully capable of winning 19 straight this year.

I assume it's for the same reason as me - we can go 16-0 in the regular season but come playoff time it means no more than going 14-2 as we have the #1 seed locked up. Don't worry about it - hope for no injuries and enjoy the intermediate records (total points, TD passes, etc, undefeated regular season) then get freaked out the week of the first playoff game.

Especially as we only have to win 5 in a row now

I think the undefeated thing helps us. Not that the team needs any more to play for in the playoffs already but the chance to go 19-0 has to lock them in even more than usual.

Once the playoffs start, all the teams are in the same boat -- lose one and you're done. The pressure is the same. The win streak really loses a lot of meaning at that point. The top consideration in the minds of the players will be winning the game at hand and advancing.

Are you a medium to long time Red Sox fan, this could be part of your problem.
They only have to go 5-0 to win the SB.

The regular season is essentially over for us already.

If we chose to win the next two games, than fine. Great for us fans.

But at this point, we also have the option of just getting ready to defend Foxboro in the playoffs.

Personally, the Dolts are not the team that I worry about in the playoffs. I think that some of the underdogs that come in here might be tougher.

I can't find anything to worry about in the next two games except injury, and of course the hope that the Pats might break some records.

Then we have a bye week.

Anything can happen but things are good as of today.

Seems like Maroney wants to prove we have a running game, so that might be a positive as well.

We've seen a few posts expressing the same thing, and I understand the reasoning, as the attention the team has nationally is incredible, and every game is like a playoff game. You wonder how long the Pats can meet the intensity head on. However, I would not feel better if they lost one of the remaining regular season games. What I want is for them to win the last two with the health of the team intact.

With a bye and home field advantage, you can say this team is battle ready, as they've been playing playoff type games for half the season with every team getting up for a game with the Pats. A week of rest after the regular season is good, and having the road to the Super Bowl come through Gillette Stadium is even better.

Respect the honesty to maybe wish for a loss, but NO WAY!! But I understand. There WILL be more pressure on the players, carrying the weight of the perfect season. That's why Denver, etc., were relieved to lose. But these guys can do it.
