Default Tom Brady or Joe Montana

Who do you think is better as a starting QB,at least RIGHT NOW? - Tom at this point in his career? or Joe in the 80s and early 90s covering his whole career?

While this is a Patriots fan site I am sure we are one sided here but put away the home boy love for a minute and explain why you think Tom is better than Joe as an overall NFL QB

IMO Joe Montana is the best ever and Brady is a hair below right now,not saying he won't become the best when all is said and done but I think Brady is 2nd best ever at this point, another SB or two win by Brady and his team and he will take the reigns.

I don't think you can compare eras ... but for what it's worth there were less restrictions on hitting the QB and it was easier to manhandle receivers then. They both were great ... Montana would have adapted to this era and Brady to that era with ease.

I have little doubts Brady will win another SB but will he get #5

If they win #4 this year then 5 becomes much more attainable

Without checking I am not sure the age when Joe won his 4th title.

There are a lot of fans in here using the term Brady G.O.A.T. so in that regards I can't put him on that level...yet...getting to look like its possible, but not yet.

Before this gets too far I want to mention a couple of things most can agree on:

1. Brady has played in an era with more complex defenses/game planning

2. Brady never had a WR of the caliber of Jerry Rice for the majority of his career

3. If it wasn't for the craziest catch (by a helmet) in NFL history and/or if the refs called the play dead like they should have (a la Pittsburgh game), TB would already have #4 and the mainstream media would be more receptive to this debate because it's a lot closer than people want to admit.

Skip Bayless, who likes Brady, always says TB did his part in that superbowl. He led them to the potential game winning drive. But the D just had a collapse of epic proportions.

This thread was started because I am seeing an increasing amount of people in here using the term Brady is GOAT and want to know how they come to this conclusion other than justifying it by being a Patriots fan and using an biased reason for it.

Montana was 33 when the Niners won SB24. Brady is now 33.
