Default Chung: The spark that fires up the defense?

Was Chung the spark that was missing from the Patriots in Cleveland game?

Chung has had an incredible season so far. He is out there killing guys and firing up the defense. Let's not forget what he did against Miami (blocked field gold and punt and returned an INT). Then 13 tackles against the Ravens and some huge hits.

I am surprised that no one seemed to notice what a warrior he was last Sunday. He was sacrificing his body against the Steelers. I think he was whacked pretty hard 3 times (slow getting up) but managed to come back.

I'm worried that he may end up like Bob Sanders. Smaller guy laying wood consistently.

No Mike, the WHOLE team sucked.

I agree with your post, but just an FYI: Chung is not an unsung hero on this message board. Nearly everyone realizes his value to the team. He is already my favorite player on the defense.

I do agree with the poster who hopes he is not Bob Sanders II. He plays with reckless abandon. I'm not sure how the Troy Polamalu-MVP hype started this season, but in my opinion injuries have put him down a notch. This isn't an observation from one game, but from several I've seen. Troy just does not have the same play making skills he used to have, although he still a very good player.

After attending the Pats-Steelers game, I can attest to that, as well as the fact that alot of Steelers fans are starting to think the same. A couple guys behind me were dogging on Troy all game long, saying he just sat there in his deep zone basically all game and never made a big play. A bunch of other Steelers fans in the area were also yelling his name in anger, wanting him to step it up.

Nope. There were a ton of story lines after the game but I did not one on how Chung had to be scraped off the deck three times...

You're talking about general media, right, not the posters here?

Before the game, I thought (and said) Chung was the key. Wilfork, Mayo and Chung are clearly the candidates, but Chung is my defensive MVP.
