Default Odd Patriots/Vikings

Vikings have Moss high powered offense they have a losing record 2-4
Patriots dink and dunk 5-1
Proves football is not always about stats.

It's worth mentioning the Pats were 3-1 with Moss. I think thee are bigger differences between the teams. Vikes were, what, 1-3 without him? So 1-2 with doesn't seem like a big change.

But no, it's definitely not all about stats. The Pats traded some perceived explosiveness for flexibility -- they've made some nice adjustment after the half last two games -- and in the long run the benefit is there.

I just hate the phrase dink and dunk.

All I know is it would be sweet to see some of these at the game next Sunday:

Favre: Sendin' D*ck Pix, Throwin' Pick Six Shirts from Zazzle.com

Bummed they're not playing out here this time 'round.... or I'd be there for sure!

I love that shirt, although I would never wear it.

Why is it so odd?

Since when does 'high powered offense' automatically equal wins?

If anything, it just shows that fantasy football has effected the perception on football fan's minds of what teams are good and which ones are not so good.

If you need further proof consider this: look and see how many people are whining about the Pats "dink and dunk offense"; then look at the stats and see what team is leading the league in point per game.

Need further proof? Look at the top stat leaders in passing yard per game, and their team' records:

334.9 - Philip Rivers -- 2-5
319.3 - Peyton Manning -- 4-2
313.2 - Tony Romo -- 1-4
305.7 - Kyle Orton -- 2-5
289.9 - Drew Brees -- 4-3
283.2 - Carson Palmer -- 2-4
263.0 - Aaron Rodgers -- 4-3
256.3 - Matt Schaub -- 4-2
251.6 - Donovan McNabb -- 4-3
247.2 - Jay Cutler -- 4-3
246.5 - Eli Manning -- 4-2
244.9 - Matt Ryan -- 5-2
242.2 - Ryan Fitzpatrick -- 0-6
242.0 - Chad Henne -- 3-3

That's the (statistically) top 14 quarterbacks. Their teams are a collective 43-47. Only one is on a team with one of the top six records. Four of the eight worst teams are represented on that list.

Doesn't really prove anything since the majority of the Pats' wins came with Moss, and the majority of the Vikings losses came without him. If anything, it proves that Brett Favre is a crappy QB and Tom Brady is a good one.

Only three 4000 yard passers (single season) have ever won the Super Bowl as well.

Do the same thing for last year:

298.1 Matt Schaub - 9-7
292.5 Drew Brees - 13-3
288.5 Ben Roethlisberger - 9-7
281.5 Peyton Manning - 14-2
280.2 Tony Romo - 11-5
277.1 Aaron Rodgers -11-5
274.9 Tom Brady - 10-6
265.9 Philip Rivers -13-3
262.2 Brett Favre -12-4
253.5 Donovan McNabb -11-5
251.3 Eli Manning - 8-8
250.2 Kurt Warner - 10-6

Clearly things have shaken up a little differently so far this season, and maybe there's been an outright shift, but as of last season having a QB who could reliably pass for a lot of yards was an excellent indicator of success.

it has notting to do with Moss, Brett Favre, is playing like the 41 year old QB that he is and that Vikings front 7 is just not as good as it was last year.

It was horrible last night favre always seems to throw to moss in double coverage. and when Moss does get ahead and could get a long TD favre dumps it off.Or gets sacked. Favre needs to go 5 years ago
