Default James Sanders

I thought last night was his best game as he was a force early in both the run and pass. While he has been steady all year, I think he took a step forward last night in distinguishing himself as a big play guy (perfect timimng on the tackle in the backfield, and great hit causing the fumble on the defensive TD). Thoughts?

Sanders was a human missile last night. He's really starting to find his niche in this defense. I like his game quite a bit. Certainly much more versatile at FS than Geno.

Couldn't agree more. Stay hurt Eugene.

I agree, Sanders has been having a solid year and last night's game shows he's on the verge of taking his game to the next level. One more year for Rodney next season and I think it will be safe to hand the keys over to James and Meriweather for 09.

Completely agree. We really struggled to maintain a good safety lineup a couple years ago (Mike Stone anyone?) and it looks like our future is set for that position.

And yes, Sanders had a fabulous game. Great tackle in the backfield in the beginning of the game, and a fine forced fumble..in addition to the pass defended. Overall an impressive job, looks like he's coming into his own on this team!

It was good to see. Very good. I've said several times that Sanders plugs the hole at his position fine but doesn't show up at the ball too often making a difference - last night he showed up at the ball a lot better. If we're lucky, he and Meriweather may be our next duo at Safety although Rodney looks like he has at least another year left in him right now.

BB might just put Geno on IR if he needs a roster spot and if the rest of the safetys stay healthy. He's got Sanders playing at a high level, Rashad Baker substituting well and maybe even Merriweather developing. He won't 'cut' Geno for a roster spot because then he wouldn't get possible draft compensation should he sign elsewhere next season.

i totally agree....

i had thought though that meriweather would be the FS and sanders the SS....now that sanders is doing so good as a FS, meriweather may have to replace rodney after next year...

eugene, after a huge paycut, will be a back-up
