Default The word on Faulk?

Saw this via rotoworld.com

Kevin Faulk - RB Sep. 21 - 8:17 am et

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said only that the Patriots' medical staff was "still doing tests" on Kevin Faulk (knee).
Faulk didn't talk to the media after the game and was seen with his eyes red from tears, so it certainly seems possible that the injury is serious. Given the Patriots' disclosure regarding injuries, we won't know the severity until they absolutely have to tell us.
Source: Boston Globe

He is a 3rd down conversion machine. Not the worst injury to impact the Pats...

what is the word? Surely some one here has contacts?

The ticker tape down the bottom of the WBZ-TV newscast this morning cited a "close source" saying that Faulk's injury is very bad.

this unfortunate report undoubtedly means Woodhead will get a shot. He will be no Faulk..... but any idea how he can block?

Woodhead is a willing blocker, unproven, but no way is he anywhere near the accomplished blocker that Faulk is.

He's one of those irreplaceable guys, because he just has a sense for things that no one else has. How many times has he run a draw for about 1 more yard than he needed for the first down, or picked up a last minute blitz, or some other instinctual play that just makes you go "Wow!".

We may replace his roster spot, but you don't replace him. If this news is accurate of course.

Not good at all!

He's the Troy Brown of the running backs and money on 3rd down.

Man, that one is a killer.

Faulk is so clutch and has so much heart. Ultimately, I bet we can find a way to replace his production over the course of the regular season - but there is no way we can replace his clutchness & his leadership, particularly come playoff time.

I like the idea of them experimenting with Edelman as 3rd down RB. Pass pro would be the biggest issue. But it seems to be the easiest way to get all of our best weapons on the field, without completely eliminating the possibility of an RB staying home to block, or a draw play.

I realize that Faulk's blocking traits are irreplaceable. I just wanted an idea of what kind of blocker Woodhead was.

More spread offense!!! More tight end sets!!! Run less pass more

share the wealth TFB!

get well Faulk

It hurts bad, but it is not a killer Manny. Faulk is very good, even at this age.... but I could conjure up a list much more hurtful than that of losing Faulk.

If it's true, it's one less veteran leader that this team so desperately needs.
