Is Don Shula right? Should there be an asterisk next to the Patriots if they go 16-0 because of Spygate?
No. At least there shouldn't be. If the Patriots go 16-0, it will be a much greater accomplishment than what the 1972 Miami Dolphins did. This is the free-agency era. It's tougher to build teams. As far as the asterisk, that's foolish. Did the Patriots cheat? They got caught early, so they haven't cheated since if they did. And how much did that really help? Is it an issue in past years? Maybe. Is it an issue now? No. Shula and those 1972 Miami Dolphins players get old when it comes to wishing losses on undefeated teams. They become bitter old men. Look, records are meant to be broken. One day, somebody will go unbeaten. But even though it was undefeated, that Dolphins team isn't one of the greats of all-time. There are 20 who are better in history. So ease up, Don
LOL! I never thought I would enjoy something Pete Prisco wrote, but this was classic.

It is kind of ironic that the team caught stealing Patriot signals last year was the Dolphins.
*sigh* Stealing signals is not, I repeat, NOT against the rules. Placing a camera on the sideline to record signals is against NFL rules. You can have a camera set up elsewhere specifically to record the other teams defensive signals but not on the sidelines. The Pats broke an NFL rule. They did not cheat.
I thought this was established months ago....

It was. We all know it.
I said "intercepted" ... not "stealing".
It saves so much bandwidth
instead of reciting the whole gory tale.

Oh, I missed the nuance there...No worries.

Yea I laughed at his statement. Bitter old man is right. What the Pats are doing this year is insane, and there is not a speed bump in sight. Add next year's first rounder to the equation which might shape up to be Mr. McFadden, and you have a scary recipe for years of dominance.

I've knocked him plenty, but Prisco nailed that one.
I've seen Prisco killed on this site, funny how now he's a saint.
Link to us declaring Prisco a saint? I still don't like the guy, but I agree with what he said there. As great a coach he was, Shula nowadays sounds like a bitter, senile old man.
