From Curtis Martin onward, it seems that predictions of RBs' pro durability have been very questionable. Adrian Peterson is just the latest draft steal based on health concerns.
Yes Curtis Martin was definately one of those guys other teams passed on because of college injury - If Addai turns out to be another Curtis Martin type runner, then the Colts will have a great runner for a long time.

Umm Peterson was selected 7th overall. People expect you to be special when you're picked that high. The crazy thing is that he has met and even exceeded expectations so quickly in only his rookie season.

I know this is off topic for this thread, but Adrian Peterson is the best back in the NFL. His breakaway speed is amazing as he separates from DBs and he hits the holes so fast its scary.

Adrian Petersen is the next Emmitt Smith-type player - He looks exactly like Emmitt did as a rookie

I would almost never put a rookie into a likely future HOF career but how can you not seeing what this kid is doing in tearing up defenses and some pretty decent front 7s at that.

Coming into this game, both runners had been averaging 4.8 yards per carry this season. I'm not sure how that's supposed to be Addai pulling away from Maroney.

If you are going to look at stats then so be it,but most stats as any professional athlete or coach will tell you is misleading

While they have similar 'stats', Addai has been more explosive, more of a factor in the running game and more of a reason why the Colts have won than Maroney's part for this team which is to gain some yardage on 1st and 2nd down if needed.

On a play for play for each player basis, that's simply not true in my opinion, and the stats showed the same thing coming into this game. Now, on a gameplan basis, it's absolutely correct, for 3 reasons:

1.) Maroney's injury

2.) Morris' strong play prior to his injury

3.) New England currently has the greatest passing offense in the history of the NFL

However, Maroney is still the better back, in my opinion, and he was considered that by almost everyone last season, prior to his rib injury. As people should have learned from players like James, Mungro and Rhodes, running backs in the Colts offense appear to be better than they actually are.

No doubt Addai is featured much more than Maroney as well as much less injury prone. I don't lie to myself and believe Maroney is a better back at this point because he isn't. So far Addai is the complete package and worthy of best back in the league consideration.

As far as Adrian Peterson? I don't know how to classify him except to say this kid is special. So far he has been an m-80 right out the shoot and I don't expect any slowing down. Makes me question how good is Guard Chad Hutchinson for Minnesota? Is it a coincidence everywhere he goes rb's turn to gold? But then again Peterson's openfield cut's are inhuman. Most of it is him too.

You mean 'Steve' Hutchinson? - Hes pretty damn good
Ask Alexander and Hasslebeck if they miss him...hell yeah! they'd say

Does it amaze anyone else when a guy steps UP to the next level of competition and actually gets better?

Its like a guy hitting .250 in the minors and then hitting .300 in the majors.

How does that happen? I mean Adrian Peterson was good in college but geezus he is like otherworldly in the NFL.
