Default Do we really make an attempt to re-sign Eugene Wilson, the one year wonder?

Eugene played absolutely great during the early part of his career but he has not been worthy of anything since then,It seems that once Harrison went down in 2004 he was just out there playing a position and not much of a factor noteworthy of any big contributions.

Not only is he not performing to a great level IMO,He is becoming injury prone and has been out of the lineup more often,Of course injury cannot be stopped and you can't blame a player for not playing because of it,but is he really worth the dollars next year when his contract is up?

I say let him go as Sanders has become a nice little player and Meriweather at least has potential to be good and we can always pick up another FS in FA or the draft.

SO the question remains...Is Geno worth keeping and clogging up more cap space next season? - He was $2M against the cap this year.

(BTW: Since this team is playing so great and things like Wilson's below average performance is kept out of conversation by the work of the WHOLE defense ,I just thought we might talk about some belly aching things instead of just how great the team is as a whole)

If he was so bad, he wouldn't have been the starter on opening day. I think you have to resign him, especially since I think this may be Rodney's last year. Sanders is a fine 3rd safety who can fill in with injuries, but Meriweather is Rodney's replacement. Who's going to be Geno's? Randall Gay? Unless you can get an Adrian Wilson or someone, I think you have to stick with what works.

Negative! Eugene Wilson has not been the same player ever since he broke his arm in the Super Bowl.

He was the starter on opening day not becasue he has been so brilliant but the fact that he has been integrated and familiar into this system the most of all the rest of the Safeties and who would BB have put out there,A rookie Meriweather?

And who are you going to put out there next year? Sanders-Meriweather? It could work, but it's a step down, I think. I'd rather have Wilson-Meriweather with Sanders available to fill in. I don't think Wilson is going to come at an exuberant price tag because he hasn't been playing much the last couple years, a fact the front office can use to their advantage.

Randall Gay has played superb this year,Everytime a big tackle comes up usually when Gay is in the game his number is hovering over or near the tackled WR or TE

IMO, they let him walk. They need the compensatory draft pick.

Geno can be a great player. He played great in the playoffs when we won the Super Bowl the second time.

I disagree totally with the idea that Rodney might stop playing anytime soon. He is going to be hitting people in the mouth for years to come on this Pats dynasty!!!

Agreed. I love Randall Gay. Good in coverage, better in run support. Sure tackler, which can't be said for Asante. But he's better off covering the wide guy while Hobbs takes the slot guy. And if Samuel leaves, there's no way he can move to safety.

If at S we have Gay,Meriweather,Sanders and maybe a big name available FA we should be fine,If Harrison decides to stay another year even better.
