Default What should the NFL fear more than an undefeated Patriots team?

A Patriots team that loses even ONE game this season. The history of this staff, and (most of) these players, tells me that if they were to lose - even to Indy - they would be even more unstoppable than they seem now. The re-focus that would force, the hunger that would breed, would make this squad ferocious.

I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, of course, but this is a preemptive thread to discourage the chicken little-ing that would come with even a single loss. This team will either lose one game or NONE this year. Book it.

The NFL is *hoping* the Pats go undefeated. The NFL *needs* a team to hate -- to overcome. Overcoming the Pats is what other teams will strive for. Didn't you used to root for anyone who played the 'Boys? Well, here we go again! At least one game every week is a national event. What could be better than that? The Patriots are the best thing that ever happened to the NFL -- from their Cinderella start after 9/11 to videogate, the Patriots are keeping the NFL in the news.

It wouldn't bother me tremendously if we lost a game. But I REALLY don't want it to be to the Colts. I'm beginning to hate them as much as they hate us.

I'm especially tired of their crying and acting as if they have achieved what the Patriots have...they have a long way to go.

We WILL play the Colts twice this year. Same thing next year. The only thing that matters is that we beat the Colts in the AFC Championship game. Playing it at home would help, but if we win, we'll take it. None of the other games matter.

The ONLY thing 16-0 will give us that we won't otherwise have is a record for regular season wins. We can still get HFA, beat the Colts in the AFC Championship, win the Super Bowl, get the Pro Bowls, get the season and Super Bowl MVPs, and break season WR and QB records for touchdowns and yardage. 16-0 doesn't guarantee that. I don't care if the Patriots ever go undefeated in a season. I don't want to see them come so close again and fail.

I'd rather see the Pats win the Super Bowl, Brady and Moss break the TD records, break the team scoring record, and more. If we lose or come close to losing a few games, it just means Brady will throw for 6 touchdowns instead of 4, helping to come closer to the records and to a win. If we beat every team before the half, Brady will be taken out and miss some opportunities to score.

I'd rather each team give us 110% and treat it like a Super Bowl (minus the injuries) so we can get tons of records and experience. If we get beat a couple of times, that's okay.

For the sake of argument I am going to assume you mean the Indianapolis Colts.

Is this like if you cheat on your wife/girlfriend they will work harder to keep you?

This thread is inane ... the Patriots hunger is already unquestionable. To say they will play harder than they play now if they should lose is foolish. These guys are t their peak on each and every play never mind for a game.
