Default Is there any team in the AFC that has a chance for a bye besides Indy and NE?

In my 30 years of watching the NFL at just week 7 I think this season there is a forgone conclusion that the AFC #1 and #2 byes/seeds are already set in stone...

Its Indy #1 and NE #2 OR NE #1 and Indy #2

Does anyone in this forum see any possibility this won't be the case?

I have looked at this conference deeply and other than a catastrophic injury to either teams starting QB IMO there is NO chance both NE and Indy won't be sitting at home a week in late January waiting for thier next weeks divisional round opponent.

Anyone dissagree? and if so who is the challenger with any realistic chance of sending NE or Indy to the Wild Card round?

No. Colts and Patriots are the class of the NFL. No one will challenge them for home field advantage. I can't name a team, can you?

I can't dude and I looked very hard at the teams in the conference....Until this week I thought Baltimore was a threat but for them to even sniff a chance that Baltimore offense will need to score more than 24 points on a weekly basis,I don't think they can unless that D somehow becomes a weapon for points by way of INT or a sudden eruption of special teams TDs .

I was ready to lable the Steelers as the team ready to step up and challenge the Colts and the Pats but after last night's performance, I'm not touching that one with a 10 foot pole. It's ridiculous how much better the Colts and Pats are over every single team in the NFL right now.

MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, the Chargers can challenge them but their early season slip up prevents them from having any shot at a first round bye. In terms of possibly jousting the Colts or Pats in the playoffs, I'd say the Chargers have the best shot. The addition of Chambers is huge for them. Chambers, Gates, Tomlinson, Rivers and that OL, scary!

EDIT! Just want to say, I'd rank the NFL like this right now:

1. Patriots
1b. Colts
3. Steelers
4. Chargers

Of course there is. It's far from inconceivable that ONE of the Pats or Colts stumbles.

What's hard to envision is BOTH of them doing so; one of those two teams will win the Super Bowl. But the other one might indeed even fall short of a bye.

No AFC team is less than 2 games behind the Pats or Colts at the moment.

I'm picking the Colts to go 1-2 over the next 3 weeks, with losses to New England and San Diego. If I'm wrong, such is life. After that, they've got somewhere between 2-4 more possible losses on their schedule. San Diego still has a shot at the bye if they can continue to play at the level they should. The Titans have a defense that's good enough to be in the mix, but I'm not sold on Young, and the Jaguars could challenge if they weren't so inconsistent about being physical.

Yeah I've actully talked to people who believe no matter how good a football team is, if Norv Turner is the coach, he will make sure it loses.

As long as he doesn't go Cam Cameron and forget he has this one player named LaDainian Tomlinson, they should be fine.
