Default Why BB is running up the score

BB may be running up the score as a way of mocking the members of the competition committee who foisted these absurd rule changes favoring offensive football on the League the last few years. He intends to score so many points, pass for so many TDs, until it becomes obvious that the passing rules need to be readjusted in order to stop the Pats, back to the kind of football BB actually favors: smashmouth defensive collision warfare, the way the game ought to be played.

I don't really understand the "running up the score" stuff. When the other coach agrees to stop trying to score, that's when we will.

The Pats scored only 7 points in the second half. How is that running up the score?

The only place they could be accused of it was at the end of the first half, when they scored a TD to get to 42. But who ever heard of running up the score in the first half? We had a team with a demoralized defense that looked prime to let us walk in the end zone. You want to not take that? With 30 freaking minutes left in the game?

The first half is fair game. You score score and score some more. As if you were Tom Brady and supermodels were going out of style.

Because he understands football plain and simple. Why sit on a lead and let the other team potentially come back. I wish the Skins would learn a 14 point lead at halftime is not safe.(both games we lost we were up at the half.) In this league you really need to go for the throat just to be safe.

I think John Lynch sums it up pretty well:

"You show any weakness in this league, and people stop fearing you," said veteran safety John Lynch. "The nature of this league is scoreboard..."

He was talking about the Broncos but I think it is exactly why the Pats want to win big every week. If a team averaging 23 points "knows" they have to score at least 35 points to win, it affects their preparation, gameplan and play-calling.

The Pats are feared right now by everyone except Indy (and even they might have some nagging doubts as well). Psychological warfare. Gain an edge before the battle even begins. Thing of beauty if you ask me.

Notice Packers v. Rams for the 2001 (i think) season. Favre had 6 INTs or something like that. He came out chucking, seemingly because they were playing from behind even though the scoreboard was 0-0 at the start of the game.

You're joking? You really believe that Belichick cares one iota what anyone
else/does/thinks besides the Patriots? The man is an obsessed primitive being.
Get ball, score points, stop offense, get ball, etc... The man is Mongo in a hoodie!

A sarcastic Bill Belichick on Tom Brady's finger injury, "It's not life threatening."

I don't see it as running up the score, I see it as securing a win.
Anyone who feels differently should see the recap of yesterdays Tennessee/ Houston game

Why was Miami using their timeouts to stop the clock in the 4th quarter..... teams can score in bunches. Our offense was in easy mode 2nd half anway and the score could have been much higher. BB had a 3 score cushion and once that was breached he put it back to where he was comfortable. The NFL still uses Total Net points as a tiebreaker stat anyway......until that stops I would score as much as possible.
