You can have the greatest ever WR's on your side. However, if your QB doesn't have the vision, decision making, accuracy, arm strength, confidence and general "moxie" that the position requires, those guys will be frustrated and lost out there. They will be running aimlessly and your passing offense will be on life support.

getting caught up in what is really just a colt argument is a waste of time IMO.

Brady came on the scene and won a super bowl right away, not after 8 years like some other QBs.
He has been a winner right from that start and has the best winning percentage of any QB.
Still won another 2 Super bowls before peyton won 1.
Has won 76 of his first 100 start to tie Staubach.
Has been consistant year after year with his performance, Tds, yards and wins every season no matter who he has around him.
He has been at peyton level with regualr weapons and now give him great WRs and now it's off the charts.

there is no debate here and hasn't been since 2004.

OOOOooooow

I didn't tell you what you could write. I said it was stupid. That is my opinion. I say let them play.

What is wrong with that? When you played, did you like it when someone took away your chance to prove yourself on the field? That is what I am saying. Let them do it on the field. You can spout all you want. These types of threads are very common. Not many people simply say, lets watch the game to find out.

It is like standing there next to a car, and saying, "I am not sure if the car runs" and all the time having the keys, and the ability to simply get in and start the car. You want to take that ability away and simply say, "well, can WE put this to rest?" Um, no. We can't. WE like to watch the freak'n games to find out.

Dude, if you simply want to yell at people to get your way, then do it. No problem. I guess this is as good a place as any.

I think that someone should be able to disagree with the whole premis of your argument and say, it is a bogas question. I mean, we are here on this board to talk about things that actually transpire. Not imagined drival from a frustraited mind.

Wait, you just want me to say, "Yep. Brady is way better than Manning."

Ok, I give. Uncle. Aunt.

Its all you man. Your guy, your dad, your truck, your goldfish are all the bestiest best of the besty rest!

Do you still play by the way? Are you the bestiest best of the rest too?

Which is why we will hear ALL the experts say that Brady is the better QB in the coming weeks. They will talk about how he's never had the receivers that Manning has had or a dome like manning has had.

This year is the true year to match their stats. And he's still not playing in a dome!

To reply to the OP, Yes, I think its an appropriate season to revisit "The Comparison", and by the way, the debate will rage until their careers are over. We are seeing possibly the two best QB's of all time playing head to head on a yearly basis. Like it or not, its the most relevant comparison of any two players playing any professional sport.

When Manning won the SB last year, after guiding his team past the Pats no less, the Manning contingent had an argument. Now that Brady has the same caliber weapons, we can say "ya see?" .

So, while its obvious that in previous years Manning had the weapons and put up the numbers while Brady each time guided HIS team past the Colts enroute to three SB rings, we can now finally make a side by side comparison of the weapons each QB has at their disposal.

Just one Pats Fan's opinion:

POSITION: ADVANTAGE:
OLINE: TIE - both teams have superior O line. Colts with more probowlers, perhaps, PATS with better coaching and group unity

RB: TIE (maybe PATS?) - Early indicators is that Addai wins over Maroney, but I think Maroney is juts itching to break out. Plus, I think we again get the coaching benefit here as well as greater depth with Faulk and Morris. I also think that our RB's give Brady more passing options, so I'm inclined to weigh this towards the Pats.

RECEIVERS, by top four positions: OVERALL - PATRIOTS:
#1 Reciever: PATS At this point, especially given Harrisons injury and his status going into the second half of the season, gotta give Moss the advantage. Arguably the best #1 reciever right now
#2 Reciever: COLTS I give Wayne the edge here, and I'm comparing him with Stallworth who is lining up as the #2 reciever in 3 WR sets, regardless of the fact that Welker may be the #2 option more often. Stallworth may be a faster and more skilled reciever, but Wayne has been playing with Manning for years and he's more like a second #1 option , rather than a #2.
#3 Slot reciever / supporting cast: PATS. Obvious. BB has brilliantly turned Welker into an integral part of the offense. Again, Welker is obviously the #2 or even #1 recieving option, but based on alignment he fits into the slot position often enough for the purpose of this argument.

TE: TIE : Tough call here. I think Clark wins over Watson, but not enough to give the Colts the overall edge. Both teams have depth ( as seen in the championship game), but add in our LB play on goal line packages and if anything this may go to the Pats.

So, in my book,PATRIOTS have the slight edge as far as supporting cast. I honestly pray that the Colts are 100% healthy for week nine. I don't want any excuses being made for Manning.

The hype leading up to week 9 is going to be sick! Get used to it now folks.

PS - I tried to format this cleanly and easy to read but I need to get some work done today!

seems to me you can only judge a leader by how he performs in the big games. For this purpose, I will focus only on playoff performance.

manning - 7 playoff appearences, record 6-6, 1 champ.
brady - 5 playoff appearences, record 13-2, 3 champ.

why is there even a debate?????

You must have blinders on?? If we cant put up a thread that compares the 2 then Where can I put them??? you tell me! If you were truly reading I gave 18 his greatness but I believe its time to debate again who is better and my vote is on 12. You think I am wrong fine debate me dont just call it stupid. You chose to be chilidish and shoot it down rather than debate Like everyone else so far has. You sir are a piece of work you come on here with your holier than thou attitude, and think you are playing forum police what you are really doing is cluttering up the thread with your idiotic statements

TE = Colts Dallas Clark vs. Ben Watson, close to a tie, but Dallas is clearly the better player overall, Watson is more athletic but hasn't put it all together yet.
RB = Colts Maroney vs. Addai = Addai for sure, he's a better fit for our system than Maroney to NE's system. Maroney is too injury prone as well. Your basis for a tie is that you THINK Maroney will blow up...How can I think thats credible lol... Although you guys do have the better backups.
At least you bothered to comment this time!

WR: you discount my take on Maroney because I am basing my opinion on a prediction, yet you base your prediction on past production. Perhaps a more valid basis so I'll agree to base my argument on THIS years numbers. Agreed ? ( will try to get to this later today).

So I didn't get to do that yet, but I know Harrison has been out and is likely still gimpy. Regardless, before even looking at the production , Moss is the better receiver ( and I think best in the league) now that he is paired with Brady. I'd bet he commands a double team on more plays than Harrison will when he returns. This alone weighs the balance in favor of the Pats but as you say the Colts recievers have a long and rich history with Manning.

Pretty impressive the Brady can break long held scoring records with new recievers in just 6 weeks, eh? hmmmm.

TE: So I'll concede the edge here, no biggie. Clark has been around longer and had put together more consistent seasons. They are both leading the league in TD's and Clark has more yards and catches . So then we go back to the QB that is throwing to them - now that Watson is finally the #1 TE he's having his best year and Brady has also rejuvinated our #2 TE's career, Kyle Brady.

Stop for a moment and repeat this ten times in your head: "Brady to Brady, Brady to Brady..."

Good.

RB - Addai has shown more than Maroney at this point, but like you say, we have greater depth ( by a LOT, really). RB play on most teams is measured not only by YPC, but also recieving, blocking and special teams. Here is where having depth helps. With the subtraction of Dominic Rhodes, the Colts are putting all their RB eggs in the basket of a second year man with no experienced , legit, backup.

So, argue which ever point you like. If the colts are indeed stronger at the various offensive positions, it will be interesting to see who finishes the season with Lobardi, and the better numbers

manning 97-52
