It seems it stirred the debate...

All I wanted to say is that the reasoning we have when a Pats player is replaced because of injury should be the same for any other team....

Just to put a little rationality in the debate.

I don't think that you will hear that. Morris sucked when he was drafted and started at middle, but once they moved him to the strong side backer he really helped the defense. Those behind him may be able to fill the spot, but they are a definant downgrade.

So evey player that is a starter, is a starter from day one? Both corners are entering their third season, so it's not like they have just been sitting on the bench.

The Patriots certainly could have used Seau and Harrison in the AFC Championship Game last year.

We not talking about the loss of a cornerback here. Frankly, the Colts defense has overachieved this year especially with two lousy defensive tackles.

I hate to see injuries like that. Physicality is a part--the essence?--of the game, but I would rather players deal only with pain and fear, and exhaustion and the like; seeing knees blown out is always depressing.

I dream that one day a brace will be invented that will barely hinder mobility, but which will decrease the likelihood of catastrophic knee injuries by some percentage...probably just a dream, though.

The board archives don't go back far enough to completely satisfy your request, but this one should do:
2005 Admit your mistakes thread

There is a definite and annoying double-standard on this board where some apply completely different standards to ourselves than we do to our opponents. It's self-delusion, and anyone truly objective just have to laugh (or in many cases just stop bother coming here).

Actually I was responding to a statement about the corners.

Having Morris and Sanders as part of the Colts defense has helped them to play much better. Maybe they aren't two lousy tackles. One is a rook, so it's way too early to call him lousy.

An undrafted rookie at defensive tackle will be exposed sooner or later. That Colts rushing defense is still a problem.

Oh wait! The Texans played without their best wide receiver and the Broncos played without their best wide receiver. The Colts defense have led a charmed life this season.

So who is the replacement for Morris? A rookie?

???? ????
He thought Beisel would get the job done, until he didn't.
That's not exactly high praise.
I congratulate you on finding the 1 person who thought Beisel MIGHT work as a replacement for Bruschi, until the games actually started.
Geez...Beisel sucks.w

Morris must have done a whole lot better as an OLB because he was awful at MLB. Check out 3GTG3 and see how many times he dives at air and is just a bit too late to the play. The anti-Ray Lewis.

At IndyStar, he was one of the most ridiculed players.

I do not see this as much of a loss.

Although I hate to see any player knocked out foir the year ... even a Dolt.
