Has he definitely been announced for the super bowl?

NFLN is also promoting the heck out of the album. And not only were they playing it into every commercial tonight, they actually wrote copy for Tirico to "product place" the record.

Is the record on a disney-capcities-ESPN owned label?

I'm sure I'll pick it up tomorrow. He's a great performer and singer songwriters are a bit of a dying breed.

By the way -- you have a typo in your sig.

True story.

Not long after 9/11, Springsteen needed a place to practice before setting out on a new concert tour. Security concerns being what they were, Springsteen approached a local Army base near his mansion here in NJ. He would have a supremely secure place to practice, and Springsteen would do a small show for the troops on post.

For nearly three weeks, Springsteen practiced in the post theater. Everyday, offduty soldiers and their family members would collect outside the theater, hoping to get a glimpse of the rock star, but to no avail - security kept them away from the building.

On the last day - the day of the show - as Springsteen and crew were whisked away by a fleet of limos, a security guard came out to the assembled soldiers and their children and said: "Mr. Springsteen has changed his mind - there will be no concert".

He's been on my POS list ever since.

Alarm bells on my bull***** meter are ringing off the charts on this one.

First, the guy did a week and a half of practicing in convention hall in asbury park in preparation for the Rising tour, which was the only tour "not long after 9/11." Some of the rehearsals were open. In fact, the today show broadcast some of them. Fans were allowed to sit on the beach and listen, and frequently they would open the doors to let the music out or fans in. Bruce and the band would frequently show up on one of the balconies over the beach after rehearsal to talk to fans gathered there to listen. So the notion that he needed an "army base" due to security concerns not long after 9/11 is baloney. It was the most open "rehearsal" in the history of big tour rehearsals, and it's all memorialized on the Today show. Second, there were no other rehearsals for the Rising Tour. Max Weinberg had his Conan gig and Steve Van Zandt was finishing his Sopranos duty, so it was a chore just to get everyone to asbury park for the rehearsals. Third, Springsteen does not ride a limo. He drove himself to rehearsals every day. You can see dozens of fan photos from that very era all over the net, as he would stop his car before going into convention hall to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

This is a bull***** story made up by someone who did not like the stance Springsteen took in the 2004 elections.

Edit: Just 30 seconds of googling, by the way, makes it pretty clear you're confusing Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, who does do rehearsals in Fort Monmouth, who does take a limo, and who has played and not played mini-concerts for the troops at various times.

Springsteen belongs in the 'all things New Jersey suck' folder...

Same here. To add to your points, I wanted to mention that Springsteen has used the theater at the Fort Monmouth base near his home as a rehearsal space for decades, as has Jon Bon Jovi and probably others. The 9/11 "security" bit doesn't hold water.

a) Your so called "bull**** meter" is dead wrong, because I myself was one of the people standing outside the post theater for hours in the heat with my 11 year old stepson. It was a pretty big scandal in the area at the time.

b) Your are a pretty poor googler if you can't find this reference in Time magazine in 30 seconds: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/ar...2037-3,00.html

Quote:
In mid-July, Springsteen and the E Street Band were holed up in a small theater on the Fort Monmouth Army base, cramming for a 46-city tour that starts Aug. 7. During a break backstage, the band members were playing their consummate blue-collar roles. Guitarist "Little" Steven Van Zandt says he has to move out of his Eighth Avenue apartment in Manhattan after 20 years. "The place is fallin' apart." Drummer Max Weinberg suggests Steve check out a place in the legendary Upper West Side apartment building the Dakota; Van Zandt looks as if he has just been told to eat his pizza with a knife and fork. "Yeah, for $7 million? Very funny," he responds
c) The Jersey shore area where Springsteen got his start has been annoyed with Springsteen for a long time. The consensus here is that he pretty much abandoned his roots and went hollywood a long time ago.

d) Obviously, the only person confused is you and your hate for anything that conflicts with your preconceived world-view. I would expect an apology, but somehow I don't think thats coming.
