Default OT: NFC Blurbs-49ers mention

“I’m seeing some poor coaching in the National Football League. For what these guys are getting paid, it’s embarrassing. A lot of them are not doing their jobs. And that’s not to say there are not a lot who are. You look at Bill Belichick and Jeff Fisher, and they are every bit worth the $6 or $7 million they are commanding. ... If you just gave Fisher some more personnel to work with, he would win a lot more.”

“Tony Romo is a franchise quarterback. He could take that team all the way with how he has been playing. He’s an elite quarterback. He has had that offense humming. He’s taking care of the football. He’s moving the sticks. He’s finding the open receiver. He is an elite quarterback. He’s right up there with the best of them. You tell me who’s playing better in the NFC.”

“Donovan McNabb’s problem is that he cannot move around like he once did. He needs to be able to move around so that his receivers can get open and he can find open throwing lanes. He has lost a step.”
“Green Bay’s defense is for real. The biggest mistake Jacksonville made was cutting Byron Leftwich after he struggled against the Packers in the preseason. They thought Green Bay was a joke. They are not.”

“Do you think Tarvaris Jackson will be kept out with a groin injury because he is really hurt or do you think they just want to get another quarterback on the field? They have an excuse to save some face now. How much of this guy do they have to see before they figure out he’s not ready? Do they have evaluators over there who are watching the same tape I am? Golly. Everyone tries to make this a lot more difficult than it is. It’s not that hard to figure out.”

“How arrogant are the Dallas Cowboys to sign Tank Johnson? If Lovie Smith could not handle him, you think Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips can? Wow. What the Cowboys have not figured out yet is that he’s not that good, anyway. Put on the Super Bowl. He ran around like a chicken with his head cut off. Mark my words — his time there will be short-lived.”

“Jason Campbell is still young. He’s not there yet, but he showed a lot of poise in a hostile environment on the road (vs. Philadelphia). That was a huge test for him, and he passed it.”

“The Packers don’t have a starting running back. Brett Favre will eventually return to his old ways. He’ll start giving the ball away.”

“The 49ers won their first two, but they are winning ugly. They are not producing on offense. They are not using Vernon Davis downfield at all. You take the guy with the sixth pick, get him the ball, for crying out loud. Throw in some bubble screens, get him going across the field. Get the ball into the hands of your playmakers. Instead, it’s run (Frank) Gore right, run Gore left, run Gore up the middle. Teams are stacking nine guys in the box, and they’re still trying to jam it down their throat.”

“It’s difficult to compare eras. What people forget is that Joe Gibbs had one of the best rosters in football the first time around. He had the best players in the NFL. It’s taken him some time to get back to that point, but he’s starting to get it done. He is learning how to work the new system. I think he gets it now.”

That's a good point with SF. They're just trying to ram Gore down the opponents throats because of the numbers he put up last season. If they continue to do that, he won't be putting up those type of numbers. They really need to mix it up, and they definitely need to get Davis involved.

The niners are lucky to be 2-1 right now. They should be 0-3. If they keep playing the way their playing, they will be a 5-11 or 6-10 team.

The 49ers problems are well documented. It's not so much they aren't using Vernon Davis like they should, they aren't using anybody on the offense like they should. I could still see them winning enough games to get away from the real dregs of the league but they've been as unimpressive a 2 win team as you'll find. They honestly looked their best against the Steelers.

FYI - Why don't the 49ers throw the ball to Davis.. V Davis just isn't that good. He lost half the season to an injury last year.. And he's hurt again..

The problem is the QB.
I hate those kind of comments, like if you pick him with the 6th pick, you should..............
as if coaches are making gameplan decisions based on when guys were drafted. Coaches are trying to win games. They dont say 'well we picked him high, we have to give him the ball'. He gets the ball when he earns (on the field not in the draft)
Same with the comment "They are giving gore the ball because he had good stats last year"> No they are doing that because they think that is how they will win games. They are 2-1. If they were 'exciting' they might be 0-3. Giving Gore the ball a lot then having him run for a 40 yard game winning TD was a very smart decision, becuase they won. They could have aboandoned the run, passed for a bunch of yards, and lost. Then no one would be complaining about Vernon Davis getting the ball, huh?

The issues with the 9er O is the QB. If he was better, Davis would get the ball, they would throw some more and better, stay on the field , and Gore would be even more effective (and probably get more carries rather than watching the D play)

As has been stated, with any luck they'd be 0-3. They just haven't been good and with Davis out for a short time and Manny Lawson gone for the year that seems unlikely to change.

For this week - Go Seahawks - Oh, the irony

A 49ers friend told me that Davis went into Nolan's office and said "I'm like McDonald's...Always open."

And if Whisenhunt knew how to coach in the 4th quarter, his Cardinals would be 3-0. That POS has screwed us twice, by losing to the 49ers and then to the Baltimore murderers (allegedly). And this Sunday, he'll screw us thrice by losing to Pittsburgh.

I have no qualms about rooting for Seattle, or any team - incl. the Rats - if that team can help us in the standings, or in the draft.
