If Jackson is healthy, he would have a right to be upset. He's trying to develop as a serious WR and the best way to do it is to get some playing time, or to be cut or traded so another team can give him a chance.
Right now, he can't even practice with the team and the situation would be the same if he went on IR.
I don't know the rules in this area, not sure if he would have a grievance under the CBA if he was IR'd while healthy.
As the only other WR signed beyond this year, I have to think the Patriots will do something with him. Exactly what they do will likely be tied to the contract situation with the other WRs.
In other words, if you're looking for an extension for Moss or Gaffney, or a change in the terms of Stallworth's rather large option bonus (or whatever it's called), look for it between the 6th and 9th weeks of the season.
Not sure at what week the rules say you can no longer sign contracts or make trades, anyone know?
