masterminded an illegal operation that videotaped the opponents' offensive and defensive signals.

Umm, Jay, offensive signals are sent in by radio.

He's a baseball guy, so he probably doesn't.

Why do people pull out the fines from other sports? It is completely irrelevant. Belichick was fined the maximum possible - they could not fine him $10 million dollars!

"a league that would love to let millions of football-adoring fans concentrate on the games but can't because too much smut is in the air."

That's because the media loves to write about it - over and over and over. It an easy story for lazy writers that don't seem to want to work for their stories and do any research.

Brady may not yet have the name recognition Zorn has, I'll admit, but after attending the State of the Union as a guest of the President, hosting Saturday Night Live, playing well in several post-season football games, and winning Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year 2005, he's at least made a good start towards approximating Zorn's fame.

It must be contagious. Here's a Clayton gem:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...tand10/07week2

New England's Sunday night meeting against the Chargers is one of the more important games of the season, and, believe it or not, it's more important for the Patriots. A loss to the Chargers could come back to haunt New England because it could mean the difference between playing a playoff game in Foxboro, Mass. or San Diego.

Umm, John, are you sure that doesn't woprk both ways? That a loss to the Patriots could mean the difference between playing a playoff game in Foxboro, Mass. or San Diego for the Chargers.

Not saying this is not an important game for the tie-breaker. It sure is, more important than last week's Jets game, IMO, but ... to say that it is more important to the Patriots because a loss could cost them the tie-breaker?

Clayton is not big on logic.

It's not that it works both ways. Its much worse for the Chargers if they lose. Thant means - irregardless of who's got the better record - the Patriots have proved that we can win at their place, while they weren't able to win in ours.

The Pats would be far less affected by SD in January (they won there last year) than the Bolts would by a snowy game in Foxboro in January. More important for SD to get home field.

The Chargers would do fine in a cold weather game with their team built on the running game and defense. A passing team like the Pats are going to be much more affected by snow.

Please enlighten us. When was the last game that Tom Brady lost in the snow?

pats are also a good running team. except for the fact the chargers never play in snow, in fact never practice in weather colder that 60 degrees. cold game: advantage patriots
