Since this is a rumor thread, I will start one of my own. Conventional wisdom has BB signed for this year and one more. What if the Patriots let him sign with the Giants in exchange for the Giants 08 #1 pick, the Giants 09 #1 and a 2010 2nd rounder.

The Giants are terrible, good chance the pick is around #10.

If he leaves might as well get something for him and send him out of the conference.

And while he are at it trade Seymour to Atlanta for two #1 picks. They should be picking #1,2 or 3. Take McFadden with the pick.

Ok, back to reality. Go Pats

a rumour like that in this period is absolutely 'normal' imho: what we can expect from the media ?

this rumour means absolutely anything in this moment : zero

we will see what will happens when the normality will return

let's start to play week.2

Take all the money Bob Kraft is putting into the Foxboro venue and all the paper appreciation he's seen in the team's value and combine it with all the money he owes the banks, and I think a rational observer concludes that a departure of Bill Belichick from Foxboro in the immediate future (certainly not before Tom Brady rides off either to another team or into the sunset) was not in the cards.

So, after the dust settles and hurt feelings and bruised egos have a chance to heal, I doubt very much that Kraft would "fire" Belichick.

Whether Belichick will decide that he wants a fresh start for, say, ten mil somewhere else is something that we can't divine and is itself a secret that Belichick probably doesn't even tell himself.

As for where he goes, do you really think Belichick would want to share a media market and a new stadium facility with Eric Mangini? I don't and so I don't see him going to the Giants. It would, of course, be delicious for Belichick if the Jets fired Mangini and hired him, but that's not gonna happen.

If I had to bet on where Belichick would end up, my money would be first on the Redskins and Dan Snyder, who would write a ten mil check and who will be looking for someone with Star Power to replace Gibbs. Belichick's entire career has been east of the Missisippi, so I don't see him heeding the siren song of California, unless, maybe, someone gave him full control over a Los Angeles franchise...

I can't believe it, my wife just walked in the room and asked " Is Kraft going to fire Bill over this, she just read something that said he was "

I just looked at her and said the source was the NY Post, she looked confused and said " People are picking that up ??, a story about the Pats from the NY Post " I told her yes, that they are. Kinda like you picking up all the stories that the Pats are cheaters when they more guilty of breaking a rule. Then I kicked her out of my room(jokingly, lovingly), she's a Steelers fan. We got in a huge argument about Hines Ward when I called him a crying wimpy candya$$ wednesday. That last for 45 minutes and seems we're revisiting it every 24 hours.

The question then becomes why he'd note something obvious in this statement. Seems to me that he had anticipated such rumors and has already nipped the bud. Said this, you're also free to speculate nonetheless.
The dozen or so subsequent threads all speculating whether BB would resign or be fired were totally unnecessary.
