Re: All of a sudden every San Fran loss is a kick in Goodell's face
Every SF loss is a kick in Goodell's face, and there will be about 6 or 7 of them.
Don't you see the familiar Seattle 2006 pattern already? San Fran leads a last-minute TD drive at the end of the game vs. Ariz, succeeding on 4th down, etc., to rob the Pats of draft position.

Re: All of a sudden every San Fran loss is a kick in Goodell's face
The fact that NE has SF's 1st round has absolutely nothing to do with Goodell's punishment. This is one of the biggest fallacies out there. The reason NE has SF's 1st rounder is because they chose not to pick anyone this year. If NE had used that pick on a player, would they be forced to forfeit next year's pick *and* waive whomever that player is?
I wish people would stop taling about SF's 1st as if it has any relelvence whatsoever.

Typically, one cup of coffee brings me out of my morning hibernation. But after reading your post, I think I need another cup or you have to expand on your thoughts. Waive a player, had the Patriots used the pick? What does that mean. Also, I think what eveyone is saying is, the Patriots are still in fairly good shape due to having another #1, not that that has anything to do with Goodall's decision.
Re: All of a sudden every San Fran loss is a kick in Goodell's face
Do you guys read anything except each others' opinions?
The rest of the country is screaming for Belichick's suspension or banning from the NFL, and half of them want the whole team shot at sunrise.
Given the facts of the case, there are a lot of good (and some not so good) arguments for a tougher penalty, and Goodell's history is to pick the worst punishment mentioned in the press and go it one better.
Goodell did NOT come down with fire and brimstone people. Not a slap on the wrist either, but not some sort of "mob justice" lynching.
So yeah I do hope the 9ers hand us a higher pick rather than a lower one. But I don't really need to "kick" Goodell in the face. I just want the higher pick to have a better draft.
Goodell's not the problem people. We went over the line, and that's why it happened. As for all the little beeyotches around the league trying to excuse every busted play against the Patriots with this week's events, pray you don't meet us on the field this year.

Jonathan Kraft has said that the Patriots FO feels the maximum value comes in the mid-to-late first round.
If there was someone they felt was uniquely suited for the Pats at, say, #5, they'd grab him. It would have to be a truly special player, though, for them to do that. [Dryheat has suggested that AJ Hawk would have been just such a player.]

The SF pick is relevant because you can be your sweet bippie if the Pats hadn't had that pick, the punishment would not have been so extreme. I guarantee you Goodell took it into account when he made his decision. Which is wrong.
