You can always trade down. Maybe not a monster deal but you can trade down. Especially this year with what looks to be a strong draft especially at the top.

This new OC ain't Norv Turner, and his new QB coach ain't Pep Hamilton either.

Believe it or not, Dallas will likely have the 1st overall pick(assuming Cleveland goes 0-16, which is likely)-looks like McFadden will be in their laps(although I prefer Jerry and Wade to draft an NT).

We pick first overall and owe that college player $30 million in guranteed money. I'd rather draft lower in the first round and pay the athlete a sensible amount of money, e.g. Maroney. The risk/reward ratio is very nice around picks #20-32.

As for Alex Smith, he led a game-winning touchdown drive at the end of the fourth quarter. The pass to the 1-yard line was very nice and it would have been a touchdown if the reciever hadn't fumbled forward into the end zone.

St. Louis will draw dead again this week. 49ers 21, Rams 10
How do you figure it won't be better than a lower first round pick - Are you stupid?

If a team, say the Dolphins finishes about 14th spot in the draft board and they want QB Brahm (spelled right?) - They negotiate with the Pats who at your 2-14 SF record example makes NE end up with the #1 or #2 pick,The Dolphins then give us their second rounder and thier spot in the first for our spot atop the top of the 1st round draft list - We then get their 14th pick and the Dolphins second draft choice ofr the #1 or #2 spot in return - Got it?

The argument that it's not good to pick near the top of the draft is ridiculous. We're not the Cardinals here, we're the *****ing New England Patriots. Are you telling me a Calvin Johnson or Patrick Willis wouldn't be a big boost to this franchise?

Atlanta is bad too - Joey Harrington as main QB all year?

The team would probably not take the pick if it were in the top 5 because it would definately hurt cap space,NE does not like to spend BIG on rookies, prefer to keep the vets happy instead and let the rookies show something for a few years before giving them a big contract (Warren this year e.g.)

How do you know BB and Pioli don't like to spend big money on a rookie? Seymour is the only top 10 pick they've made. Don't make stupid assumptions.

Don't expect New England to be dumb and give a top 5 player a 5 year contract for $30 million dollars or so like some teams do - In New England you SHOW WHAT you are worth BEFORE you get paid the big dollars,They did not pay Seymour huge money until he proved himself years later

Thats why this team is not in salary cap hell year in and year out and would not likely keep a high draft pick unless its a player that is way too resistable too pass up for some reason .

If you want NE to spend stupid big money on a player coming out of college without proving himself in the big leagues then you have the wrong team to cheer for - Our FO does not jump into a pool without checking to see if there is water in it,you prove yourself then you get paid if you are not greedy and demand ridiculous cash like Asante or Branch

Nothing personal to the 49ers fans, but yeah, I wouldn't mind if that team lost a fair share of games this season.

Here is what their schedule looks like:

Regular Season
Mon 9/10 Arizona W 20-17
Sun 9/16 at St. Louis 1:00 pm
Sun 9/23 at Pittsburgh 1:00 pm
Sun 9/30 Seattle 4:05 pm
Sun 10/7 Baltimore 4:15 pm
bye
Sun 10/21 at NY Giants 1:00 pm
Sun 10/28 New Orleans 4:15 pm
Sun 11/4 at Atlanta 1:00 pm
Mon 11/12 at Seattle 8:30 pm
Sun 11/18 St. Louis 4:15 pm
Sun 11/25 at Arizona 4:05 pm
Sun 12/2 at Carolina 1:00 pm
Sun 12/9 Minnesota 4:05 pm
Sat 12/15 Cincinnati 8:15 pm
Sun 12/23 Tampa Bay 8:15 pm
Sun 12/30 at Cleveland 1:00 pm
All Times Eastern

Not a whole lot of gimmes in that schedule.
