Default Steeler Fan Here to Say What a Load of Crap!

Hey guys. Not sure what's higher, the troll or support meter, but I created an account just to make this post and say this whole mess stinks. Hey, if BB was cheating then punish BB, as they did, but personally I think taking a draft pick (or two) is wrong. Now you're screwing with the future of the franchise. Why should a team, a franchise, a city and a fanbase have to pay so dearly because of one incident? One incident of ARGUABLE signifigance? One incident which, very possibly, is not even unique in the NFL?

Yeah, I know. The Pats got caught. Making an example and all that. I say if you're going to make an example, don't make it one that will effect the team in the future. It's all a bunch of bulls *t.

(And here's hoping this year either you or we wipe that smirk off Payton's face with a humiliating -- for him -- playoff defeat.)

Thanks for the classy post. In my one visit to Heinz Field three years ago I was very impressed by how passionate Steelers fans are. (But please tell Heinz Ward to shut the hell up about BB.)

Thanks for the support. I think you'll find a lot of agreement here. A rational opinion on all of this is going to be hard to find, especially among adversaries. I agree about wiping the smirk of the NFL Darling's face. No one cheered louder than me when Big Ben made the tackle and Venderjerk blew that kick! I was a BIG Stiller fan that day.

Nice post. I am pissed about the Draft pick. I've been salivating over having two '08 first rounders since April '07. DAMN YOU TO HELL GODELL!!!

By the way, what are your thoughts on Tomlin? There was a special on the NFL network about him last night. I think he is going to be the real deal.

Good point. They should not punish the franchise, just the coach. And I agree this form of cheating is of little significance. Do the rules forbid someone from observing the defensive signal and taking notes? From using a high speed camera? From review NFL films for snippets of defensive signals? From recruiting former players who will share some info about the defense? Should we presume that there will no longer be a need for teams to disguise their defensive signals now that Goodell has cracked down! The whole thing is absurd and overblown, and they're trying to turn fb into a genteel sport, which it can never be. Thanks for your post.

Thanks guys and a couple more things I just thougt of. I'm reading on other forums where people are calling for an asterix next to the Pats Super Bowl wins (I think it was mentioned here also). If they're going to do that, they might as well put an asterix next to the Steelers '95 win because of 2 or 3 (yeah, I admit it) miserable officiating calls. Matter of fact, if we're going to go down that road I think you'd be hard pressed to find any Super Bowl champ without an asterix. Just utterly ridiculous.

Second, someone here last night asked what's the big deal about a video camera when teams do it by memory all the time. I think the best way to answer that is imagining you take a run down the street every night after dinner and every night at 7 you see a beautiful girl undressing through her window. By God, you'd be a fool if you didn't stop and stare. It's expected. It's MANDATORY. But the moment you bring your camcorder, now you're a predatorial perv. Big difference.

Last, I just read Marino's take on all this at BostonHerald.com. I'm sure it's old news to most of you but still, he said it best:

Quote:
“This whole situation is a total non-issue. The key thing to remember is that most defensive signals are not given until the defense sees what offensive personnel package is on the field and who is coming into the game. By that time the offensive microphone (in the QB’s helmet) has usually been turned off and the play given in the huddle. The CIA couldn’t break the code that quickly and relay the information to the QB. I really don’t think the Patriots could have gained an advantage even if the Jets were holding up cards with the defense written on it."
Edit:

I loved him the moment I heard he was working those guys harder in training camp than they'd ever been worked before. Kind of the NFL equivolent of Herb Brooks prepping the team for the Russians (i.e. New England and Indy )

I would prefer belichick being suspended for 2 games. Then we could at least plan for the future, and we would still make the playoffs.

Yeah, this guy is a Steelers fan and I am tapping Giselle as I write this.

The old reverse-troll technique, seldom used except in times of desperation when one attempts to remove suspicions of their biases.

All good points Mr. Quinn. However, I wish you and I grew up in the same area as I do not recall any watching any beautiful girls in my days...where do you live now?
Pittsburghers are all class, baby.
