Default Brady's shoulder and the back up QB situation

I think this is a little worrisome.
The shoulder problem has been chronic and its not going away.
Brady has been listed on the injury report almost every week for three years.
I do not think this is just gamesmanship.

In view of the above, I wish the Patriots had a backup QB thta was a bit more proven. If the shoulder problem causes Brady to miss some time...putting the season in Matt Cassell's hands would be disastrous

It is not more than gamesmanship. And even if it were, better for the system to have a well coached young technician who only knows this system step in and try to replicate what Brady does than some veteran journeyman QB step in and muck up the works. When Flutie was here he worked on mimicing Tom in the belief that if he had to come into a game his best use would be to try to transition into it as seemlessly as possible. Of course his own style and height restrictions made that a difficult undertaking. But so too would the poor decision making skills of most veteran backups. Aside from Vinny, who has always been somewhat of a seat of the pants interception machine even in his prime, exactly who is it you think you would rather have backing up the franchise?

hmmm - interesting theory... I had always thought Brady's shoulder "injury" might have had something to do with BB's disdain for the injury report...

I do find it odd that with all the guys sitting out of the pre-season with all kinds of injuries, and the kid gloves that they treated Maroney with that they'd just let Brady continue to go out and practice at training camp day after day after day irritating his chronically injured shoulder....

let me go back and check the stats to see how many games Brady's chronic shoulder injury has caused him to miss and how it's affected his performance and get back to you.

if I recall, even prior to this new injury reporting format, the deal was that if any player missed a portion of practice they had to be listed as "probable" -- in fact, i think it's this stipulation that forced the change this year to "missed practice/missed portion of practice" instead of the percentages. point being that there is probably a series of drills or something that Brady has routinely been kept out of - whether it is to protect the shoulder or otherwise. BB is just reporting to the letter of the law so to speak. I'm not sure you can read much more into it than that.

Knowing from afar how BB operates, I would say Brady will be listed on the injury report for the rest of his career.

I agree, we're paying all that money for a guy with a bum shoulder. We should trade his azz and pickup someone that isn't so fragile or physically deficient. I beleive Leftwich is still availabe.

BB probably had Brady and Moss miss a lap around the field just for the sole purpose of screwing with this silly system. He didn't like the old "injury" system, and I bet he likes this one even less.

Does his play over the past few years give you reason to worry? Enjoy him while you can , because when Brady does leave there is unlikley to be Steve Young behind him.

No one will get honest injury reports from bb until Kraft orders him to do so. Kraft hasn't given the order yet. I suspect that unless we are penalyzed with the loss of a draft choice, bb will continue to mock the system.

Smells like a troll to me, but otoh his being listed on the injury report is an indication of BB's dislike for some of the idiotic NFL rules, i.e. wearing official NFL apparel on the sidelines, mandatory press conferences and access to the assistant coaching staff.
