That was actually Vince Wilfork.

Considering it's the week before the start of the season, teams made their roster cuts, Harrison was suspended, Samuel signed, Jets interviewed three of our players, Seymour was PuP'd, Childress wasn't into collusion...it was a pretty busy week. Those are the stories that we now about for sure...and the lead up to those sure fire stories are rumors. It's just the way it happens...it's been a busy week in Pats land.

Can you think of really any other team with more to talk about...just between Samuel, Harrison and Seymour, that news pretty much smokes out any other team.

Sorry Jets fans, but with your offensive line, the Patriots could field Appalachian State's defensive ends and still have Pennington looking like a headless chicken. I'm a little concerned about the defensive backfield, but when hasn't that been the case? In 2003, the Patriots at one point had 11 starters injured for a significant midseason stretch. I forget how that season ended but I think it was pretty good.

The sky is blue still folks. We haven't had Sey in any of our preseason games and our front seven has painfully dominated far better offensive lines than yours, Jets fans. See ya Sunday!!!

So, we lost Seymour for, a liberal estimate, 8 weeks. That leaves Wilfork, Warren and Green as starters, Wright and Smith as backups, and Thomas and Colvin available to play end in exotic looks. Clearly, that is crap. It is obvious that all these players are below average players with limited athletic gifts, and products of Seymour's dominance. Without Seymour, the 9 foot tall, 600 pound monster who runs a 2.7 40 yard dash, our defensive line is hopeless.

We also lost Harrison for 4 games. Our defensive backfield of Samuel, Hobbs, Wilson, Sanders, Gay and Meriweather is now dead in the water. Never mind stopping the Colts, we'd be lucky if we give up less than 400 passing yards to the Vikings.

The average age of our linebackers is apparently 57.

Also, I read recently that Randy Moss singlehandedly put 16 western Mass Wendy's restaurants out of business, packing on over 49 pounds since his hamstring injury. He was going to be cut, until he threatened to run over Bob Kraft with his car if he is released.

Seriously, I have never seen so much negative press over one team in 4 days in my life. We lose one guy for 6 games to injury, and another for 4 games to suspension, and suddenly the whole team sucks.

Does America hate the Patriots that bad?

ain't it great? order has been restored to the universe after nearly four months of pundits and prognosticators falling all over themselves to praise us and practically hand the Lombardi to us. now if we could only get some of those guys to retract their predictions and put us at 8--8 or 9--7 instead of 14--2, i would start to relax.

time for some good old-fashioned, smash-mouth, no respect, how-dare-you-dis-us Patriots football. To he!! with the lot of them! On to Phoenix!

Did you happen to catch the 2001 season??

That was a T_E_A_M all the way and that is exactly what the Patriots are all about.

BB knows how to take his'n and beat your'n no matter where the talent levels are at.

We love being hated and we love trouncing Jets asses.

Bravo!

That was an excellent recap, but I think you forgot to mention how we are playing musical punters. We are now stuck with "Axe Boy" Hanson after we cut baugher who went on to beat the tar out of his dad.

Furthermore, you can't blame Harrison for cheating when we have a coach who steals other guy's wives and tries to bribe other team's clown-looking coaches... an incident that may land Belichick in prison or at the very least cost us some draft picks as penalty.

Lastly, there is the matter of the naked pictures of BB in compromising situations that Vinny is sure to produce to the media now that they cut the old goat in order to keep the upstart Gutierez. You think the last 4 media days were bad?

Well, there's always next year!

Cool for what its worth

The most dominant DL player for us last year was Warren - hands down. Seymour was playing hurt all year and wasn't nearly as effective as he had been in the past.

Rodney was missing for the playoff game with the Jets and that worked out pretty well - for us.. Even Don Banks from CNNSI who published a "Pats are suddenly vulnerable" article acknowledged on FSN NEW ENGLAND Sports Tonight show last night that Sanders is barely any drop off from Rodney with the way they are both playing.

Wilfork is looking like a beast and appears to be taking his game up a notch.

One other barometer - my FFL draft had Brady, Maroney, Moss, Stallworth, Gostowski and the Pats DST taken before ANY of the Jets players were taken. Keep in mind this is in Northern VA, not New England, and I only took Brady (2nd round) and Welker (10th round.) That's a pretty good indication of the talent level difference between us and the Jets. BTW - the guys in my league thought I was nuts to pick Welker and many said "who?" I believe they'll see the value as the season evolves.
