Who else am I leaving out that turned to the darkside after leaving the Jets?

Players change teams, what do you care were they go after your team cuts them.

I would say the odds are 50/50 that the Pats pick up a Jets castoff before they play one of there games,
You forgot former Jets 1st rounder Kyle Brady! We also have Pepper Johnson as an assistant, and had Bryan Cox and Jermaine Wiggins (thanks BTW!).

Here are some former Pats that went and played for the Jets:

Curtis Martin
Corwin Brown
Jerome Henderson
Otis Smith (though he flip flopped between the Jets and Pats twice)
Keith Byars
Ray Lucas
Dave Meggett
Mike Gisler
Tom Tupa
Vincent Brisby
Leonard Myers
Terrell Buckley
Ty Law (this one hurt, you guys suck!)
Matt Chatham
Bobby Hamilton (sort of like an Otis Smith situation)
Hank Poteat

Now possibly Artrell Hawkins!

Absolutely. I don't think Hawkins is through, he and Miller were classic courtesy cuts.

Don't forget Ray Ventrone and Tim Dwight.

Roster incest ... both ways.

That's a main reason why the rivalry is so entertaining.

After seeing what the jest have at DB, I think that Hawk could compete for the 8-9-10th DB, behind (by #) Dyson, Miller, Revis, Rhodes, E.Coleman, Poteat, and Washington. His main competition could be Eric Smith (if he stays at S) and David Barrett.

I, too, would have dropped Rashad Baker and kept Hawkins, as Wilson Injury Insurance.

For that matter, I would have kept Hank last year. We could have used him in the AFCC

He was serviceable JAG who helped out but was also exposed. I hope they sign him and every other scrap heap defect we let go.

Tell me how you like these matchups:
  • Hawkins versus Stallworth
  • Hawkins versus Moss
  • Hawkins versus Watson
  • Hawkins versus Kyle Brady

That's not the issue at all. How would like Rashad Baker Or Mitchell starting at free safety? Meriweather is cetainly not ready. Wilson will probably be fine, but I don't understand why Hawkins is not on our squad instead of Baker.

It is the issue, the Patriots cut him.

You can defer to BB for his evaluation, if Hawkins comes back mid-year after we lose 2 or 3 safeties then so be it. The Patriots looked at the potential backups at FS and felt there were at least 2-3 better options.

For some reason I think they have Sanders pegged as the backup FS. That will work for one game and then we usher in the Merriweather era at FS for the next 5 years.

Shocker - If Wilson is really banged up (will miss more than 4 games maybe he goes to IR and Hawkins is brought back in). Stay tuned.

We took the same risk last year. We played with scrubs log gone instead of Hank in the playoffs. Hawkins will not be back. He is better than lots of marginal safeties around the league.

Sanders is just aweful at free safety. The answer if Wilson is injured, even for two or three games, is probably Randall Gay, with Meriweather and Sanders sharing the duties at nickel and dime back. The last couple of roster decisions will be made based on health. If Wilson is out for a couple of games, we could end up keeping James or Welsey.
