This is hilarious. One preseason game and you've divined that Griffen is better than Meriweather? Maybe they can hire you to scout next year, so we don't have any of those horrendous 7th round draft misses, like Lua.

And I know you hate James Sanders for no reason, so I just want you to be used to the fact he'll be starting at SS once Harrison hangs em up.

This doesn't belong in this thread... And most of your grades are junk. Especially claiming Watson, who was primarily working on his blocking, was awful.

As for Woods and Sanders, You're friggin insane. How can you grade them an F? Did you even watch the game? They were very solid out there.

Cousin Jack,
I don't hate anybody. I just can't get the picture out of my mind of the last second TD by the Colts. James looked like the doorman. He's a short, small, slow SS and you know he might not be able to cover, but he doesn't well tackle either. Yes, I know about Bob Sanders but James ain't him.
Yes I wouldn't mind being a Pats scout. What's the pay?
Honestly Jack, how do you rate this years draft? Who would you say has played well in either game and I take it into consideration that these are just young kids who are starstruck? I'd give Merriweather no higher than a C.
It's all my opinion anyway and you know what?....My opinion doesn't count so..... I know this was a terrible draft year and said that prior to it but there were four or five that "got away".

Not only is this an outstandingly intelligent and insightful thread
on a topic of unrivaled importance - the longevity of Tommy Terrific -
but this thorough, yet succinct, classification by DWToys
is a model of its kind.

Don't bother whether you agree with every appraisal DWToys makes.
I don't copy all of them myself.
But clearly he has reviewed a lot of visual information
... digested it ... and organized and summarized his impressions of it for us.

I know this because his critiques cut to the heart of the matter
and carry verisimilitude in some cases exactly because they might be so obscure or contrarian!

As MiguelTheBrit likes to say, i am Here To Learn.

Man, how closely did you watch the game while grading these players? Tory James got embarrassed on a touchdown pass and on other plays, and you give him a C-, mentioning his play on a rushing touchdown.

See, this is what I'm talking about.

Practically everything you said about Sanders is flat wrong. There's really no other way to put it.

As for Meriweather, he was a great pick. It's obviously too early to judge the draft as a whole, but I think you have positive signs with players like Rogers, Oldenburg, and Elgin. Kareem Brown has pretty good athleticism, though I suspect it will take him some time to get used to playing in a 3-4 system like the Pats run. If he can get it down, he could be a monster. Again, you're just off-base -- I don't know what else to tell you.

Cousin Jack,
He is short, he is slow and his coverage is suspect as anyone can attest. Nobody denies that. Will he develop? I don't know, I am just a guy not a coach or scout. Lets keep this in perspective. There was a #44 named Dallas Clark a TE that gained almost 150 yds in the Playoffs. In most cases that was Sanders man. I appreciate your ernest concern for a player that you so admire. I respect that. He was just physically overwelmed in the playoff game and he has done nothing in the first two contests. A little concern here. Look at the Titan game tape on the TD over James. Was not Sanders inside help supposedly? There was not inside safety help within ten yards. James took the whole "bad" on that play.

Then that stunt at the goal line on the Playoff game was almost as if he Adai had cooties. That Jack, was unforgiveable. If he wiffed or Adai bounced off, it happens but please watch the tape. Sanders steps out of his way!!!!! at the 2 yard line. Sanders could be a Probowler this year and I will still remember that play.

But in the long run it makes no difference what either one of us says does it?
Offbase? Perhaps. Observant? More so, but in my humble opinion only. I do surender to you if you so choose, sir.

Cousin,
You are very correct with your observations, but he also had a few decent plays including one nice pass break up. Look at the Titan game tape on the TD over James. Was not Sanders inside help supposedly? There was no inside safety help within ten yards. James took the whole "bad" on that play. The running play was stupid and no excuse. The passing TD was a little more complex. That's why I grade him as C- .
I appreciate your response though. I am just a guy observing what I see. I am not saying I am more observant here than you or anyone.
Best,
