Jests RB Thomas Jones injures right leg during practice
Of course, we wish injuries on nobody around here (preemptive comment before the newest Jests troll screams "keep it up. Karma. Karma. Karma. Yada yada yada") but this is yet another bit of potentially bad news for the Jersey Jesters.
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Aug. 12, 2007) -- New York Jets running back Thomas Jones limped off the practice field after injuring his lower right leg.
There was no immediate word on the nature or severity of the injury, but it appeared to be either to his ankle or calf. Jones wasn't made available to the media, and coach Eric Mangini had already addressed the media before practice.
Jones was untouched during running-back drills when he went to plant his right foot and fell. He immediately took off his helmet and untied his shoe before he was examined by a trainer, who wrapped his lower right leg.

Re: Jests RB Thomas Jones injures right leg during practice
UPDATE: Local NYC news (ABC 7) just reported that Jet doctors have placed Jones's foot in a "soft cast" as a precaution.
And a jet fan who was there: I was at camp. Looked like a classic sprain to me. He was in pain, walking gingerly, and certainly was not near a stationary bike. He did work his shoulders on the arm bike thing and did do the medicine ball ab work with the other injured guys.
I doubt he'll play in the preseason again, but I also think it's the type of sprain that should be much better in 3 weeks. I'm pretty confident we'll see him week 1.

I'm with you. Victory is so much sweeter when you can beat a team that's at full strength. You don't get the usuall whiney fans saying , "yeah but so and so was hurt!" Of course then it's the ref's fault.

I generally agree, and applauded the Jets move to grab Jones for a 2nd rounder, and think he'll bring a lot of excitment into the division... but injuries are part of the game
The Patriots have suffered plenty and still won, as the Patriots pride themselves on quality depth.
Mangini, in his offseason moves, sacrificed the need for improved depth to grab just a few starting caliber guys in free agency and the draft. If everyone stays healthy, it will be the right move, as I think he got some good players in the draft
But IMO the Jets still don't have the depth that a team needs to win even when injuries happen, as they almost always do.
So if they can't compete because of injuries, its because they made a strategic offseason decision that backfired.

No, no NO!
The only leg injuries of concern are those to Pats wideouts, e.g. Moss' hammie.
I know because I read it on Jets Insider.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH

Yeah, but has he gotten them all into camp?
