Default Colvin 3rd in NFL in QB knockdowns in 2006

For those of you who believe that Colvin never regained his form after his injury, Reiss reports, according to football outsiders, that Colvin was 3rd in the league in knockdowns, an unofficial stat that combines sacks with QB hits.

I like Colvin, he always seems to be were he needs to be... I did notice how he'd get the ball when it was thrown to the outside, that's good awareness on his part...

I expect Colvin to be even more noticed this year when he can get back to the weak side for, hopefully, the whole season. I wonder what his knockdown numbers were on the weak side vs. the strong side.

Odd, the Box got some funny looks during the off-season when he noted Colvin's 8.5 sacks suggested he was getting back into form from his double digit Chicago days.

I believe the Box also noted (possibly while addressing himself in the third person) that over the course of the season Colvin became quite solid sealing the edge against the run.

Well, like BelichickFan said, hopefully he won't be on the strongside and will have an easier time setting an edge on his normal weakside.

Colvin might have been our best LB last year. I think fans have not come to terms with the fact that a Patriots defender is not going to post double digit sacks in this defensive system. Colvin is considered a dissapointment because he does not put up Merriman numbers, but in this system, it is not going to happen.

Come week 10, somebody on this board is going to rant about how Adalius Thomas has only 2.5 sacks, and how he must be a bust. That same person will ignore that four different players have 5 sacks or more, and that the defense ranks in the top 3 in points allowed.

I guess Colvin led the league in "almost-sacks" last season. I wonder who led in "almost TDs", "almost circus catches" and "almost interceptions". Then we could field an "almost Super Bowl team"... wait, that's what we had last season. On second thought, I'll go with Vrabel and A. Thomas as my OLBs.

Shut up you smug douche, QB knockdowns force incomplete passes and interceptions

it means he was pressuring

what does it mean if a qb almsot threw a TD or almost a circus catch?

knockdowns shows that he was at the QB pressuring him or hitting him and making him feel Colvin's presence
