If Meriweather didn't have any incidents on and off the field and had a clean slate, would he have lasted till the 24th pick? what do you guys think...

there were plenty of db's that were first round quality. if it wasn't him we drafted, then it would have been another. e.g. jaguars take meriweather instead of reggie nelson, causing us to take reggie instead. Things could have been affected by your conditions, but it wouldn't have mattered

I forget who it was, but I remember hearing that there was a team ready to pounce him before the Pats. I think he could've been a 15-20 pick myself, but I'm just basing this on what I've read and saw him do when Miami games were televised. I root for the Seminoles so I did keep an eye on him when we played the 'Canes.
Odds are he would have been drafted higher. With Goodell's code of conduct policies, any player with questions on their character probably dropped.
No way of telling though. There are a lot of player who rise and fall in the draft for no apparent reason or because there is a run on one position or another. We got Wilfork in the 21 when he was supposed to be a top 10 pick. We drafted Warren at 13th because most of the first round DTs were taken in the top 10.

No, after Landry Meriweather was considered the next best safety. His issues off field and on is what drove teams away especially in the new NFL.
More than likely he would have been taken by TENN, JAX or GB.

He was the third safety taken......just where he was supposed to be.
If we hadn't taken him at 25....he would not have lasted lasted until 28.
His off-field transgressions had nothing to do with
his final draft position.
IMO,he's a better choice than Reggie Nelson, because he can play CB,also.
Also,if I had to choose between Merriweather at 25 and Darelle Revis, including giving up 2 draft choices......I'll take Merriweather.....
The key here is we don't need this kid to start right away.......If Revis,Landry.or Reggie Nelson, don't
start and play at a high level, immediately.
Their teams are in serious trouble.
The Jets made a foolish mistake giving up so much for Revis, considering that their gross weakness is at DL and QB.
Not really sure how much his off-field incidents affected his draft stock, but the Eagles would have gotten him if we didn't. Not sure if that helps...
