Default Don't you wish....

....

1. The Patriots would mike up BB so we could see what really goes on along the side lines. It seems like they Mike up every dick head coach in the league, yet the only time we hear BB is when an NFL camera guy catches something on the fly. In this single case, I am jealous of other teams

2. The same goes for Tom Brady or Tedy Bruschi. I'd love to hear them during the games going off. This does NOT include Randy Moss. I think I've heard enough of him on the NFL network, and I didn't like it.

3. Someone would call the NFL network and tell them to make some NEW GD commercials. I have to turn the channel al the time because I'm starting to mouth the words. "We knew that THIS team was DESTINED to ....." EEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! its like the same stuff for over 8 months. Its not like they are BAD, it just the same 6 OVER and OVER again and again. MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!

4. You could have the same access that Michael Holley had for those 2 years......and could tell people ALL ABOUT what you heard as saw. It must drive him nuts to keep quiet sometimes when he KNOWS something, but can't say it.

5. You could have one day as the analyst on a Pats broadcast, and a week to prepare for it. I really feel sometimes, if you picked a REAL fan at random. Gave him or her a week to prepare, they wouldn't be worse than some of the stuff we have to endure each week. I know the technical part of doing a broadcast isn't as easy as it looks, but most of the time I learn more from these boards than from any insightful comment I hear on a broadcast.

6.....and of course I wish I could have my own column on pro football. But that's a personal wish, so I digress.....

7. You could sit next to Bill Polian during a Pats/Colts game......and go toe to toe with him when he goes off.

8. Don't you wish on of the OLmen on the field would just punch Sean Merriman in the mouth when he does his little staged dance after a sack. I think that would go a long way to get back some class and professionalism.

9. Speaking of sacks, don't you wish some announcer would tell the fans that even the BEST pass rushers in the league FAIL over 95% of the time. If the corresponding offensive line man did a dance every time THEY stopped a rusher, they'd be EXHAUSTED.

In fact that's what I'd love to see the Pats OL do when they play SD in week 2. Everytime they pass and Brady isn't sacked, one of the OLmen should go right up to Merriman and do his little dance IN HIS FACE. It will make his antic so ridiculous, he might think twice about doing it, when he actually makes a sack.....and that would be sweet.

10. And finally Don't you wish that the Pats players would decide not to do any individual dances or celebrations after a good play. Its OK to get excited but celebrate as a team. Got that Jr, Ellis....Randy

Well those are my 10. Feel free to add your own. REALLY, we don't have anything else to do till training camp arrives .

Personally I don't particularly mind some of the individual celebrations. Especially when compared to some other teams/players, the Patriots for the most part do celebrate as a team. Junior's pump of his fist or even Brady's occasional first down signal is a sign of the intensity these guys bring to the field and it usually pumps me up too.

Lol. True True. They'll show freakin Jack Del Rio, Gruden, or some other goon but not Bill.

Then more people would be calling the Pats unclassy.
Pretty sick idea though.

1. This might be petty, but is anyone else sick of ESPN only showing the Colts' highlights against the Pats whenever they discuss a matchup between the two teams? It was really annoying to see the same clip of Marvin making that damn circus catch over and over.

2. I'm really getting pissed off at the Patriots' defense when I think about it. Is it me or do they always seem to be one of the most dinged-up units in football since the '02 season? Stay healthy dammit.

3. Looking back on the offseason, how much cap space did the Patriots have?

I wish we would stop having these 2nd-half meltdowns in the playoffs. Seriously. This team has mentally and physically crumbled in front of our own eyes and I never see it coming. 5 turnovers in the Denver game? 32 second-half points in the Indy game? The team manages to reach new low's in the playoffs lately. The big problem with that is that in the 1st half they seem to be doing pretty well.

I can stomach a loss where we're not playing well all day or the other team is better (like the SD game), but this meltdown BS has got to stop. The consequences get worse and worse - first Brady has his playoff perfection spoiled by a team led by JAKE PLUMMER(?!) and then Manning gets a ring. What's next?

Don't you wish...

You could hear Peyton Manning's thoughts when he throws up his hands in frustration and has that retarded look on his face? (Usually after the Patriots get a game securing interception)

better yet... don't you wish you could speak through his helmet's communication system at that point and ridicule him? "Hey Peyton, nice throw! Go coddle yourself with your statbook!"

you could have BB on thruth serum where you could ask him any question you wanted and he had to give you a truthful and complete response? I wonder what question I would ask him...

we could get Joe Nameth drunk at every Pats-Jets game and make the sideline crew interview him until he did something stupid or entertaining

Ray Lewis and O.J. Simpson would spar off in a celebrity ultimate fight. O.J. is getting old, so we might have to issue him a pair of undersized leather gloves and golf club just to make it interesting.

the denver Oline would ride a malfunctioning Six Flags rollercoaster in Kentucky?

I became aware of the second-half troubles after the Jacksonville game. After the score was 24-14, the immortal David Garrard drove right down the field with a TD strike to Matt Jones. That pisssed me off. Prevent defense is supposed to allow yards and not tds, but when it allows tds, it's aggravating.

When the score was 21-6 at halftime against the Colts, I saw the same thing happen again in the 3rd quarter.

1. I think the networks would love to mike BB - he only agrees to it on rare occasions to placate them.

2. Ditto Tommy and Tedy. It's mostly self promoters who agree to do that crap.

3. I hear you...Where you at 85...was cute for the first month, for the last 18 or so I find myself answering the query "mired in mediocrity, thanks for asking...". One thing I don't like about NFLN's evolving approach is the way they have morphed into less information and insight and more fluff and entertainment. Just like ESPN. I can understand broadcast networks pandering to the casual fan, but casual fans don't get the NFLN. It's supposed to be football 24/7 for hardcore fans of the game. Particular in the so called off season. Unfortunately is reruns for 23 of the 24.

4. That's why Holley is one I listen carefully to because I know his take on team issues is shaped by the background understanding that access afforded him. Long ago Felger had similar capacity for insight into Foxboro, but he pissed it away for his shot at multimedia gigs. In fact, I think that was partly fueled by resentment that Holley got the insider book while he was working on past history. But hey, Holley had the foresight to ask and to comport himself in a way that made it reasonable for them to say yes and not live to regret it. He built a resevoir of trust that is still paying dividends for him and us as fans. Felger's egotistical need to prove himself on the radio was already leading him to reveal stuff that was off the record background information. You can be a great reporter without breaking confidences.

5. Unfortunately that's not what the networks think they want. They want glib entertainers and limited insight geared not to bore/overload the casual fan with information.

6. So why don't you.

7. I lack sufficient self control to even attempt that.

8. As Tedy would say, awhhhh yeahhhh!

9. LOL Sacks are sexy though...

10. I don't like dances as a rule, although for some reason Ty's sweep never bothered me. What really annoys me is non TD celebrations or say 2nd down stops. And for some reason it bothered me when Corey started doing that chest thumping thing, like he opened his own hole and showed us all. I think the best approach is the matter of fact nonchalent look like it was NBD one, because you expected to succeed 'cause you were just doing your job. To me that's a lot scarier approach for an opponent to witness than some self absorbed idiotic dance.

Less than 30 days to go to camp...

I wouldn't wish that sort of thing upon a person who hadn't personally wronged me, but the Donkey O-line is so full of #@##@@#)%* that I wouldn't shed a tear if it happened to them.

Excellent list. My guess is that BB doesn't want to be miked because he drops too many F-bombs and people would be all over him for having to get bleeped so much. I don't understand the NFLN commercial thing either. They have something like four commercials they keep repeating, the latest addition being the one for Wendy's frosty float, which I've memorized along with the others. I'm REALLY sick of the one with the Bears and Vikings fans who keep one-upping each other with their NFL gear.

I think it would be really cool if the Pats players decided as a team to start a new trend of handing the ball to the referee after a touchdown and then the 11 players on the field do a group high-five.

Thing is the second half meltdowns are all the result of lack of talent. They have certainly made some moves this off season to remedy that by infusing talent across the roster.

In 2005 it was flat out talent drain after losing LJ and Tedy's stroke and Rodney's knee and some disappointing mid level replacement performances coupled on offense with the losses of Light, Koppen and effectively most of the consistency in the running game due to injuries.

In 2006 it was the loss of established #1 and #2 WR's on offense (necessitating replacement on the fly) coupled with Dillon's continuing ineffectiveness and his future replacements late season rookie wall/injury issues. Coupled with a continuing nagging lack of talent on defense due again to injury only exacerbated in the final analysis by the flu.

The system works, but it does require sufficient talent.
